I saw Steel Pulse playing at the London Roundhouse around 1978, and I think Wreckless Eric, and The Police played at the same concert.

Saw this band supporting Genetation X way back in 1978.....wasnt into reggae at all back then,being a spotty faced punk!!! But they completely mesmerised us all,they were brilliant that night. I went out the next day and bought their "Handsworth Revolution " album.....Still have it today......👏👏....Mr. Collyman is a banger

Steel Pulse formed around 75/76 in Handsworth, Birmingham in England. There was quite a lot of great reggae bands came form the area but most didn't last as long. Some of their earlier tracks that got them their name in clubs and with SoundSystems are "Ku Klux Klan", "Prodigal Son" and "Makka Splaff (The Colly Man)". One of my faves and the first thing I had by them is "Nyah Luv". It has a great dub on the B Side.

The whole Earth Crisis album is one of the best reggae albums ever. So is the Babylon the Bandit album. Steel Pulse is one the best bands in reggae in general so great pick and give it a listen they talk about series topics in songs form the 80’s-00’s that are still relevant today

This is cool. If it wasn't for this channel and a cruise around the Caribbean, i would never have listened. 😊 The last time i got drunk was 1990 at one of my Aunt Eleanor's legendary parties.

This song is more rhythmically layered and complex than most reggae. So is “Your House” on the same album.

echo-trip-1: It's amazing how many great songs is on this album and apparently they used a studio in Aarhus, Denmark and completed the whole collection in 4 weeks.

Classic 70's UK reggae act! They were still around until fairly recently, haven't heard from them in a while. Good band, well worth further investigation.

My last comment disappeared. Have a look oot for "Handsworth Explosion" and "Midlands Explosion". There's two of each and they have a ton of bands fi back then. Some better known than others.

Their last release was 2019's Grammy-nominated album Mass Manipulation. Apparently a new album will be out soon.
