Hi Josh and Phoebe, Your experience mirrors our own experience about 40 years ago. We were a similar age to you, and when I chartered a yacht from Whitsunday Rent A Yacht' as the skipper, I had 2 days experience on a trailer sailer in Port Stephens under my belt. We optered for a sailing guide initially, (we had read a book about sailing) and we had to tack into the wind from Shute Harbour to Long Island. It all went very well, so the sailing guide told us, "I don't think you will need me for the next week". The rest of the week was just magic. We had a great time, and even repaired the water pump impeller with some fishing tackel when it let go. (a problem that happens, it was a Yanmar diesel engine.) We had very little of modern technology onboard, no VHF, just HF radio. Depth sounding was by leadline. So keep on going, even newbies can do it. Love your episodes.

Forty episodes. Top stuff. I've watched Josh improve his diving, but I think this is the best we've seen from you Pheobe. Next question, will you hunt. Either way, just getting confident enough to do what you accomplished in this video, will add heaps of fun to your adventures. You also look very cute with clothes and without. Stay safe. 🙂❤🙏

Great episode I like how you change the rhythm in the video. If that was a plastic boat with an encapsulated keel that trip would be in trouble after kissing the bottom. You might want to get some 90% proof vodka: Hold the fish by the tail over a bucket pour some vodka in the gills, instant death, no suffering, no bloody mess. You can reuse the vodka many times.

The jury is still out on whether or not a "Fish" feels pain like a human does. Some of the scientists feel that when the sensors are activated instead of activating pain they activate their stress thing and try desperately to get rid of the hook. Keep fishing! Great video! Interesting Donald, regardless we treat all animals with as much care as possible and try to make the death as quick and painless as possible. We have seen some shocking practices and always try to educate those people as compassionately as possible. Cheers mate! Josh

@@Thenewkidsonthedock I hit everything but the lottery with my steel ketch when I first bought her. She had a folding propeller so I found out quick, but not quick enough that I needed a lot of time and full rpms to stop. I hit bottom that would destroy a Beneteau keel or any production sailboat for that matter and all I had was scratched paint and a bruised ego. I tend to go super slower now. Yeah, it's a sphincter tightening time when you have those conditions, poor vis, inadequate charts and an unfamiliarity with the area ... don't take bumping lightly, you were lucky, but I am sure you are aware of that. As for the music for the video, great stuff ... as a didge player myself, I enjoyed the contribution the player gave to a non-trad style of playing. It's actually quite difficult to blend the Didge sound into a contemporary music setting. When I looked up Greg Bowering to get a better insight into his playing I was delighted to see he is also an artist working with fish leather gathered from byproduct catch and other species, how awesome is that. We have created products in the past from the scoby of the Kombucha tea creation "known" as vegan leather which is a fun process. Thanks again for putting in the effort to capture your progress and travels. Regards Russell

Ha this brought back Memories , when I was in my early 20's (56 now ) I was working on coral trout boats up off magnetic island Bowen ect , it was a late fish and the main Boat ( snoopy ) moved and we were to catch up with it after the fish , well the sun blinded me and I ran my Dory up on a Bommie . My kill tank was full of fish bleeding into the ocean so I was surrounded by sharks , the boats bottom was caved . it was low tide so I was safe for a while , I was found the next day in total exhaustion as I bailed that F#cken boat all night . I laugh now cause I survived but shit I was so scared . Most beautiful part of the planet Ive ever lived on ( for 6 months each season ) its dangerous and untamed by humans .

Steel is good. Or as they say "steel is real." But beware, rust in one thing. A common unknown is ions which make steel brittle. Need to heat the metal above 200 degrees C to remove them. I chopped my yacht up {to small / pissing around making it into a lunch yacht for living room} for another project and use the steel. So they are good for the keel being well attacthed unlike toothpaste boats. But i found a section long painted and epoxyed over "that was brittle." I fist found out about this using rusty drill bits from a sunken yacht retrieved - they snapped like twigs - ha - why = ions. I think Phobe might have same or similar figure to me, does she often look in the mirror. I now have a theroy - the better a females figure the more they look in the mirror to check how good they look, still good, check for faults, while others would be disapointed or disgusted with what they see so preffer not to look. There the ones that then complain about good images being offensive.
