Good Grief! I just watched Phoebe bail the dinghy in a rainstorm, while she was cold and the boats were moving! That was brave and very dangerous but she just did without hesitation. Solid gold crewmember. Absolutely well done, Sweetpea 💝

This old sea dog loves you two. Your learning curve is sharp and your physical skills superb. I hope you get to share at least the 45 years my Mermaid and I sailed the oceans blue. One thing I can tell you of the future. Every time you go to Sea you will learn something new and face new challenges. After 12 ocean crossings, my last was the most challenging. Thanks for sharing your moments with us.

As beginners we know that cruising in the tropics is seasonal, some opt to stay over the wet season and many head into latitudes not affected by cyclones. We thought that would be the best option for us this year! Cheers :) Josh

If this is supposed to be extended version with a disclaimer why the f*** are you censoring you don't even have to censor on KZbin as long as you have an age restriction or a disclaimer on your channel

Hoods are nice for keeping rain from going down your back, but nothing beats a sou’wester for being able to feel the wind on your face , and having an unobstructed view. Think about getting one for each of you next time you’re in a chandlery

Hey George we would froth some good wet weather gear but being super budget doesn’t allow us to drop 1K to get us both set up! You either have the $$ and no time or time and no $$. I’d rather be rich in time every day! 😁 Josh
@Thenewkidsonthedock14 сағат бұрын
Ps all our wet weather gear so far has been second hand but we have learned that the waterproof lining breaks down on the seams, it sucks!

Just had to dig out your first one and see how it went. You both did really well and you are very brave for venturing out. Worth all the hard work that you did on the boat. Good🍀Luck

Not to be a nerd, but 1) we don’t mind amateur go pro work, it’s refreshing in a world of overproduced KZbin videos. 2) petroleum is produced by a natural interaction between the core and the mantle of the earth, along with water. It’s not finite in any way, it’s not decayed biological material. 3) you’re wonderful sailors, and we all love you both so much! And Sonia as well!
@patraic52412 күн бұрын
That's right. Petroleum is created in a deep Earth process. Not a true fossil fuel like coal.

We really like practicing heaving to. We do that a lot just to basically pause if we want to. I sometimes heaveto to pee or grab something while single handing when I dont want to keep moving. It's the first step when a hat flies overboard or when we hook a big fish, and we are both confident we could save eachother with just sails and know how to get the boat under control and stopped immediately even in strong wind and it's not even a big deal. we have roller furling though.

Wonderful. Due to the international date line I believe this was posted on the 10th. But I may not know exactly where the date line is. Either way, the 10th is my birthday and I am 49 years older then Pheobe. And I don't know how that happened. Old enough to be your grandpa. And I love watching you two get to enjoy this amazing adventure. Thanks for the joy in this one and the soup looked excellent. Stay safe. ❤🙏

Autohelm's are great for inland waterway's under motor where you need to stick to the channel, but for ocean passages under sail what you want is a wind vane, this should be the top of your list of things for next season, whether you buy one or DIY one.

I officially am looking at boats to buy! You inspired me to go small, and go now! The idea of trying to save up to get the best boat possible was going to prevent me from getting out there for years! However, seeing how well you all do it being novice sailors on a small boat and how much fun you are having has me going ahead and live that dream! Plus the sooner I get out there and live on the boat, the sooner I will get rid of my bills on land and can save up to get a better boat as I learn and have the time of my life! So thank you

I hear that , turn key search never ending, older the better , one or two owner boat used regular over 27 ft pass sail inspection with today navigation , silo sail around all oceans . Happy hunting. GOOD DEAL OUT HEAR . N PACIFIC where I'd like to start my sailing season.

The car jib position controls TWIST in the sail. Ideally all the tell tales will be streaming aft. You can adjust the car position to achieve this, at least upwind of a beam reach. Below that the sail is stalled. Especially upwind this makes a big difference to height, speed and leeway. In general a tight leach gives height so you point higher, and a loose leach (more twist) gives more speed but less height. This is an oversimplification but in general terms its true and also applies to the main. Twist can be used to depower the sails a little when its windy. On my boat easing the mainsheet a little to give the correct twist can give me an extra two knots through the water at times. There has never been a poor Adams design. That boat will do everything right if you let it. And your sails are shot.😊

Great teamwork again from the best of Australian Cruisers. Well done. I personally believe little Princesses should be in bed in the dark hours but you certainly held your end up during the night. Bravo. Great to see you still learning stuff, even tho I think you are quite good as you are. No shame at all in getting things wrong and it's better than just learning by ear. Sail on you guys and we look forward to another great episode of your wonderful lives.

You are right, Josh, you are not doing anything wrong at all. Your teamwork gets you through anything you are not sure of, and what the heck, if it isn't right, who care, as long as that sweet girl is having fun. It's great to watch as she keeps us informed of all she does. It's called Cabin Fever here, from when a couple of skiers or climbers get snowed into a cabin for a few days. There's been murders! lol. Just give each other plenty of space and show interest in what each other is up to. You make a great team and are headed for the top of the sailing on KZbin. Good🍀Luck, guys.

Great episode for us to enjoy. Sorry late, but I'm slowly catching up with your adventures as I been in hospital for a while. This one was special though with such beautiful places in pure loneliness. Sonya was great and obviously had a good time in the water and on the hot rocks while being fed! Lucky girl. Enjoyed your narrative on the area and it showed the work you put into these videos. All round great content. Thank you.

Great to see you two. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. All in favor of reigniting the passion raise your hands. ✋I believe female deckhands frolicking in their bed cloths are called wenchs, although I've never had this experience personally. Hey Steve, as always thanks for your thoughtful comment. It’s awesome to hear from you how significant the change in our relating is after a short time apart. We definitely felt it and noticed whilst editing this video. Sometimes we call Sonya a wench but I haven’t been brave enough to refer to my dear Phoebe as one 😆 Yes subs are helpful but we would just love more people to get to watch the videos, seems the channel hasn’t been reaching as many at the moment. So glad to have our day oners like yourself though ❤️ Cheers, Josh

Don't put yourselves down, you're both doing great at sailing, 1 season and you've both learned so much. Now with over 20k subs maybe you can hit up a battery company to sponsor you with a LiFePo4 house bank and maybe some other goodies to make life more comfortable on board (like some extra solar and a water maker)
