I like this, admitting your own short coming helps audience judge if the shortcoming is worth the trade off. Not only that, it gives the impression that you can be trusted to help correct any warranty issues.

I am so impressed with BTOD on the Steelcase V2 refurbished vs new Steelcase V2, I am somewhat speechless which is quite rare for me. I have owned several companies over the past 50 years and would like to say after watching the video, I feel confident in saying I would prefer the BTOD refurbished over the Steelcase new regardless of the price.

Man, this was an awesome video. I have rarely ever been fully informed about a product with all its upsides and downsides as compared to another seller (steelcase). Really gave me some food for thought and if I buy refurbished it’ll definitely be from btod. I don’t have $1000 to spend on a chair anyways.

Amazing video! I JUST got my Steelcase from BTOD this last Tuesday and wow....I'm pleasantly surprised. I was skeptical at first buying refurbished. 6+ months doing research, going back and forth with decisions (Secretlabs, Staples Hyken, you name it). Finally after many videos and topics/comments I've decided to go with BTOD. The price along with the warranty (12 years I believe?) was hard to pass up. And wow it's nice. It had an odd smell at first but usually things I order that ship from further away tend to have something. After a day or two the smell is completely gone. Overall I'm very happy with what BTOD has done with their refurbishing process and I highly recommend anyone one the fence to give them a look. That being said my only initial gripe was not knowing that the height adjusting cylinder wouldn't immediately make contact with the adjuster. It gave me an initial panic thinking it was broken. After a few searches I found you can take the seat pan off and tighten/loosen the screw to adjust the contact point. It required me to go to a hardware store real quick to get a flat head driver long enough to hit that tab in the back to take the pan off. Thankfully the process itself was SUPER easy so besides the initial panic, it wasn't an issue. So with that said NOTE: If your chair doesn't adjust the height (adjusting lever doesn't do anything) you may just need to adjust the hex screw by taking the seat pan off.

I am very impressed with this video and your other one showing your detailed process. I am however quiet surprised that you dont replace the foam in the seat base. Foam wears and degrades from the first cycle. I am sure that adding that 1/2" dense extra layer will make a big difference, but replacing the foam with new foam purchased from Steelcase cant be that expensive for an outfit the size of yours, unless they wont sell it to you. My old Leap chair is in great shape, but the seat foam is at the end of life. There is nothing really wrong with any other part. I personally would like to send the seat in to someone to have new foam installed, using the existing fabric, but dont know where to go for that service.
@theSato Жыл бұрын
I doubt that Steelcase sells their foam sadly. They want people to buy new chairs at their price premium to get that true 'like new' feeling again.

Awesome you guys are doing refurbs. Was looking into refurbs but most websites try to hide the fact that the chairs are refurbished or claim they are "open box." No way I am going to trust a company to properly refurbish a chair if they are too shady to even tell me its refurbished. Unfortunately I already bought new as a result of having no good refurb options, but will definitely recommend BTOD refurbs to anyone looking to save a buck going forward.

I think that the refurbished is the best option for me as a resident in Australia. The warranty offered by their authorised reseller is 5 years compared to the 12 you offer. Either this or I spend the extra few hundred and get an Aeron for the full 12 years coverage with 24/7 usage.

I don't understand the 40 hour work week thing on the warranty. I've never seen anything like that before. Does that mean that if you use your chair for more than 40 hours one week you void the warranty? Or is this just a thing specific for businesses? How does someone determine if it's been used more than 40 hours per week? To me, it kind of sounds like an open door that someone can use to invalidate a warranty for bogus reasons.
@formulaic7811 ай бұрын
I would assume that it means a year is calculated as 40 hours X 52 weeks. So really you are getting less than half the amount (but I think that's fine as it's a refurb and half the cost).

Seriously considering a BTOD refurb, but since it's for my "home office" where I have my work and my play computers on the same desk, 40 hours of use warranty doesn't seem like the best fit.
@btodtv4 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. Most brands do not offer 24 hour ratings on their product, but the large seating brands like Herman Miller, Haworth and Steelcase do. If you're concerned about coverage for this reason, you may want to consider a brand new Leap v2 -GK

@btodtv3 жыл бұрын
We want to minimize the waste and try to keep the chair feeling as close to an original chair as possible. The foam Steelcase uses is high quality. It would be wasteful to throw it away. We are adding the high density foam to add some additional support under original pads to ensure they sit like a new chair. Our intention is not to recreate an original seat pad and change the Steelcase experience. -GK

I HATE these chairs. The headrest is useless, I'm not that big (6'00 200 pounds) and I don't even have an inch of clearance on either side of my body, the arms don't go low enough to get out of the way when typing even when at their lowest point, the added lumbar support is incredibly uncomfortable (the chair was exponentially more comfortable once I ripped it out), it isn't especially good at doing any one thing, and at 1300+ dollars it was overpriced for what it was. I bought this chair on June 15th (too late to send it back) and I genuinely feel duped and cheated. I thought I would adjust to the chair and that it was me and waited too long. Now I'm stuck with this dumpster fire chair. My advice to anyone in the market for a computer chair is MAKE SURE TO TRY IT BEFORE BUYING!!!!! The way that the world has been the past 6 months put me in a position where I absolutely needed a chair, I had no choice but to buy blindly and I regret that decision. Never again.

QueenApple tbh I thought I did but it was just one of those things. The chair really hurts my back but people kept telling me this was “normal” because it’s promoting a healthier posture. I also just learned about chair ergonomics and that you aren’t supposed to type with your arms on the arm rests. I’m fairly tall with extremely long arms and a long torso (I’m almost 6’1’’ and my legs are only a 29” inseam). I come to realize that in the chair I have zero choice but to use the armrests because they literally don’t go low enough to get out of the way. It sucks so much knowing I wasted so much money

So you're expecting me to believe that you're providing "beefed up" parts that surpass the parts a 1st party company that charges over $1200 can provide? I feel that Steelcase would ensure they're using the best parts with the high paid engineers they have working on the chairs.
