MK9 Is the best game Netherrealm still made because it feels like they cared, while I think MKX is good and MK11 is passable, I havnt even bothered TRYING to play MK1, it looks so lame and so greedy like they dont care anymore, while the fatalities are a little iffy at times, and while the game balancing is wack competitively, Its still a great mortal kombat game with lots of love and charm put into it, its still quick and snappy enough where I can play it and not be slow and too sluggish of a game. Amazing game through and through, best part is? I can fit it on my xbox one without having to download so much damn game content. Edit: the reason your X ray didnt work with Cyber Sub Zero is because it has to be initiated in the air.

MK9 was peak Mortal Kombat, characters looked cool instead of lame actors wearing cosplay in a "realistic" artstyle. The stages had that classic Mortal Kombat design, the gameplay was fun and you could actually unlock good stuff in the Krypt.

I hated mk11’s goofy retro/80’s aesthetic and almost every character wearing spandex or superhero cowls. Not to forget, the facial models were plain ugly. Superhero spandex tights were a bad look for Mortal Kombat. Mk1’s aesthetic was a bit better than 1, but still funny looking for many character models/designs. Mk1’s user interface(U.I) was ugly too. The U.I looked like it was designed for a mobile game.

I give MK9 nothing but praise. One of my favorite aspects of it are the endings, most if not all of which are simply really cool. I just love shit like the irony of Johnny turning into a monk (as well as the Seido namedrop). It's another place MK1 fumbled, because instead of fun "what if" endings it tries an "epilogue to the story mode" approach which is fucking boring because there's no variety and zero closure for the sake of the status quo. You don't find out what the characters did, you find out what they _want_ to do, and the towers also now exist in this weird bubble with no connection to the rest of the game. Even the two guest endings so far amount to "I WASN'T HERE.... BUT NOW I AM. GUESS I'LL GO KILLIN AGAIN!" Compare that to Alex Murphy becoming what amounts to the god of law enforcement or the Joker living out Shang Tsung's greatest fantasy.

Her damage seemed good but that’s assuming the opponent stayed in the full combo. Some characters hitboxes were so small that they could just duck under all her moves and poke her at the same time, making the game almost impossible to play for sheeva.

I mean, the 2011 reboot basically just did the first three games in 3D. That's it. The overall story started going downhill, as it usually does once time travel gets involved, but this new one went off the rails. Now I guess only guest characters are the only interesting thing, but they've used all the boomer once already, so don't know how far the modern ones can take them.

Mileena's first (not the second) alternative costume is super cool and so is Sindel's. but the other Mileena alternative + Kitana being a princess in a bikini was sooo weird, for a reboot they kept a lot of the super skimpy designs, even Sonya looks just laughable. @@randomman1084 This is not true, the game had some serious bugs/glitches and it had P1 adventage aswell + horrendous balance and netcode. Its far from perfect but its still the best MK ever made nonetheless, go figure =)

The timeline was restarted and Liu Kang essentially made these alterations to avoid conflicts. It's not as bad as you make out. The multiple timeline aspect of it, is in fact very interesting and opens up a lot of possibilities. I was also someone who looked at it with a fair amount of scepticism going in and didn't dive into it until yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by it.

@@opadripI enjoyed the story for MK1, it just doesn’t compare to the story of MK9. The fact is is that Liu Kang isn’t perfect and is new to the “time lord” aspect. He isn’t Omnibenevolent either, and probably tried somewhat punishing those who caused him harm, without really realizing it. Definitely the worst story we’ve had for any recent MK game, but it’s actually interesting. I just don’t like how they did Raiden.

Mortal Kombat 9 had fatalities locked behind paywall. The classic skin pack had fatalities for scorpion, sub-zero and reptile. Also these skins were in the game from day 1 as you could see them in the challenge towers, but to use them in any game mode you had to pay for them. @opalander yes it does matter, you can't justify a game is better just because one is cheaper now comparing to a game that just came out a few months ago. Mk9 is only cheap to get because it's a 13 year old game that has devalued off from the market a long time ago. The importance on what would be better than the newer game would be the story and gameplay.
