Thanks for the video! Would you say WR and Corner are the most likely selections for us in the 1st two rounds? This draft isn’t touted as a strong draft so is trading down a possibility

Of course! Takes two to tango in order to move down. It would depend on the board but the Steelers could definitely use more bites at the Apple.

Happy new year DB Wide Recievers : Savian Williams - kyren lacy I really really like these two. Would you draft a Left tackle 1st round or invest via free agency? How secure are we With a rookie fautanu coming off injury starting at right tackle and how comfortable are we with Broderick starting at left ? He’s not showing anything positive. I know NT/3tech, cornerback, running back and WR are a necessity but those things will be canceled out if we don’t have offensive line who can lead our run game. Thanks DB

I’m good with giving the tackle job to Fautanu barring some sort of injury setback. I’m not sure what to think about Broderick’s future. Hoping things get better. Not sure they will pivot away from him. I’d be understanding of him starting the year out next year but I think with him and McCormick in the lineup, it’s gonna be tough to run the ball effectively.

@ pad level first and foremost. Everything stems from that. He can def improve. Will he? We’ll see.

You mentioned OL and the start and briefly talked about Jones and McCormick… I think the elephant 🐘 in the room is the OL coach Meyer. I see Jones as a Kevin Dotson type dude-not the sharpest 🔪 in the drawer, but loads of ability. And you see Dotson as a plus starter in the league. Guy should be looked at seriously.

I’d really prefer Russ not come back next year. I feel like if Fields started the whole season we’d be here week 18 with the same record. I feel like we’ve seen what Russ is at this point in his career, and that’s just an okay QB. His pocket awareness is below average at this point. Please give Fields the keys or trade for JJ McCarthy

Russ would make a great backup, but as far as fields he's not a rookie and either they didn't open up the offense to him or, his instinct to run kept him from opening it up, but with the weak draft class its going to be one of the two I bet

@ I can agree Fields was far from perfect. But I would like to see him with a better WR room and see what he can do with that. His upside is certainly higher than Russell Wilson’s at this point

I agree with the band-aid comment. I think that approach has missed enough times that they need to boss up there. I think you can only do so much in the draft. I’m sort of expecting Steelers to be busy in the FA market this offseason. That said - do you think it’s better they sign a CB and/or DT in FA or just try to draft one?

CBs in FA are always so tricky. Shopping in the 2nd/3rd tiers is kinda where you wanna be instead of big spending but even then, that can be risky. I think you can get a player adjacent to Ogunjobi for very cheap in FA.

They need to get a receiver in free agency, do you think revell will be healthy?

I’m sure the medical checks for him in Indy will be key. But he was hurt early enough into the season to where you’d expect him to play as a rookie, I would think.

Yo DB missed the live was watching my 🅾️state boys play but how do you feel about 1st round Luther burden and Savion Williams , juice wells , or pat Bryant in 2nd or 3rd round for WRs and then at safety Lathan ransom and corner trey Amos and sign dj Reed in free agency

After the way Russ has played down this stretch.. he needs to take a loss if he signs. We can not allocate a bunch of money to that position if he isn't "the guy". He needs to take the majomes approach if he wants another ring. Take a cut so the team can build around you.

I feel like every soothsayer Steelers guy is saying the same thing right now. "I had them in the 9 or 10 win range anyway." Sure but that grade was factoring in cooked Russ, and were in ballpark of peak Russ. Estimated wins loss change from a QB swing that significant is like 4 wins. Which means the rest of the team found themselves 4 losses of quality. It's an ultra disappointing season to me.

I think that’s probably where I differ from the consensus where I think Russ has even fine, maybe slightly better than I anticipated overall with admittedly worse surroundings than I anticipated at this point of the season. I just always felt like we’d arrive at the place where the Steelers would have the 18-20th best offense in the league and they’d be kinda capped out near that tier.

so if we do win 11 games with the bengals game this week and we win a playoff game against a really weak texans team, a fairly reasonable outcome, were the expectations 14 wins and a super bowl? cause if so i think its completely irresponsible to expect that of a team with 1 starting caliber skill position player one corner and maybe the 20th best qb in the league right now. ultra dissapointed doesnt make any sense to me at all. honestly we are probably a little better than we should be. i think just about the 8th-10th best team in the nfl is completely reasonable for the steelers.

@obtusemooose I'm counting Bengals game as an L since the team looks off the rails. Yea so I think Russ is way better than 20th. I put him at 9th this year after LJ, Allen, Joe, Pat, Daniels, Sam, Baker, and Goff. Maybe Purdy but either way that's the range. So, yea, when you think your QB is gna be in the 20-32 range and he ends up 9 ish. That's a 4 win gap.
