Unfortunately? Between Fukushima still leaking into the ocean, river dams, gill netters, hatcheries and unchecked sea lion numbers, the steelhead and salmon's days are numbered. Over the last ten years here in Oregon the numbers of fish have drastically dropped. I could see the writing on the wall about 4 years ago and sold all my 'spey' stuff before nobody wanted to buy it because the fish are gone (which won't be long). I'm also too old and frail to walk on those 'greased bowling balls'. But the memories of those early days will be with me until I follow my friends to that pristine river in Heaven.

The Death Star is an unbelievable rod! I unfortunately just sold mine... not because it lacked any performance but for personal issue (I have a 13'6" 8 wt. ONE). I fished it with a mid-spey line (with traditional casting), and with a skagit line system. I didn't mind it with the longer line and used it a lot for streamers and indicator rigs. I prefered it with the shooting head system. It handled sink tips without any hesitation! Awesome casting rod!

Shut it spey is awesome and you can fish way more water and have more of an enjoyable time fishing youre favroit water and be catching more fish then the other guy so when youre catching nothing im catching fish you couldent dream of and btw just be respectful of what youre using and what others are using we all have are favroit methods of catching fish and thats all that maters happy fishing and tight lines!!!

Nice film, but if you learn singel spey with both right an left hand you can fish more efficient with less movements and less splash/noise.

I just picked up a 'death star' tcx in here in Norway for 50% off (norwegian prices), around 600 usd (more or less full price us prices. At the time I just saw the (50% off Sage sticker).. I'm an ok single-handed caster (just getting into spey casting single handed), but new to double handed. Is the death star more of a scandinavian (I guess that refers to overhand casts?) rod or will it be able to caste single and double spey casts and variants (just realized it's a super-fast action rod)?

Spey and switch sucks.. Let's face it ,if you can't fly fish you just can't fly fish, there is no reason to start using two hands.. Just go with a nice spinning rod from Lommis or something ..
