Loving the Goodness! Been watching WG and being inspired since your first cabin build. I’m 73 and when Covid arrived I felt there was no time to waste, so the wife and I bought a wild lot, drew up our own plans and started building our 800 sq. ft. cabin. We are a few summers into it now and as semi-amateur, non-professionals, things are going great. I also took the lead from you and sharpened my tech skills and started our own KZbin channel ( river rock cabin ). We tune in from Ontario, Canada cottage country every week to watch you, for the building tips, the laughs and the pure enjoyment. You’re always on the bright side! Awesome build.

You can use the circular saw to cut metal roofing but turn your blade around before you do - gives you a cleaner cut and saves the teeth. Also, if you use angle iron for the loft windows you will need to box it in and insulate it on the interior or the heat/cold will radiate through and with the cold you will end up with condensation issues, at least when heating the cabin during the colder months. My dream is to build a guest house on our property in the Black Hills of SD (near Mt. Rushmore). There’s an old 18’x21’ shed with loft in town that’s going to be torn down relatively soon and I’ve heard the property owner would let a person have it, so I need to get a hold of him and see if I can disassemble it and use it as the beginning of the guest house, otherwise this youth pastor isn’t ever going to be able to fund the project.

39:59 do me a favor and keep making these videos... Its kind of like a therapy, plus it makes me want to build a cabin in the back of my property. Since watching your channel from the time you started the floor to your cabin, you have inspired me to refresh my long time hobby of woodworking. I am building a custom entertainment center for my neighbor. I started it back in March and slowing getting to the assembly stages despite the intense Vegas heat. I am retired and your Virginia adventures have inspired me to continue what I love. If I was fortunate to win that cool and unique saw, I would pass it on to my son in Michigan who lives on a couple acres of wooded land. Please do us both a favor and invest in a good pair of work gloves that protect your hands while giving you dexterity to keep Going After It.

I was so inspired by your last cabin build that I built a 24 x 12 shop which provided the content for the first set of videos for my channel. I do not know when it will happen but I also want to build a cabin like this, once I can buy a chunk of land. I am a fellow good ol Canadian boy, and loving your videos. The window situation is interesting, I was so captivated, I was like where is this going next. I don't have much input but maybe you need a header above that first window, but screws up the triangle one. That's a situation where I would flounder, but you thrive in those situations. Anyways keep it up.

If I absolutely was set on using that glass, I'd get a piece of angle steel or aluminum to act as the header for the windows, with the vertical side facing in and cut the top nailing edge off the vinyl window and slip a piece of drip edge between them.
@JasonPatz7 ай бұрын
You might consider using some of your kids' artwork as inspiration for an art glass window or two. They could be mounted behind some of those windows that can't be opened. This would only make sense if you have an area of the cabin where kids couldn't colide with them though. That stuff is break-y and sharp.

Holy Woodness Whataniftycutness baby!!! The only way to travel is by the seat of your pants son!! It is the preferred method by the semi professional amateur. Big G, everything is really looking great. It is tough working out in the middle of the woods because most professionals would just set up scaffolding or use a lift or bucket truck to do the edge work and high windows. We semiprofessional amateurs have to work with what we have. Kudos my friend. The widows not matching could be remedied with some tint to match the tinted windows. Just saying but the cross section joining the two windows is a tough one. My inspiration is the cabin builds as I redo my screened in porch. Keep getting after it.

Bet you felt accomplished and slept well that night. Amazing time for that question! My wife, under a year old daughter, and father-in-law are about to embark on a very remote family bush camp. Located a few hours south of the Agawa Canon in the majestic…you guessed it Boreal Forrest! We begin cleaning up the old logging trail this week to start hauling material in. That is if the mosquitoes don’t take us away first. My vote for a design was similar to the Original OG cabin lean too idea. So naturally we settled on a ridge beam style that extended with an over hang of the porch for a small loft similar to President Chay. I have also been digging a new channel Zachariah Holub on what he is starting and creating. As we are milling our own lumber I’m also interested to see what Holmes Boys Outdoors build as they are doing the same! No idea why my wife says I watch to much KZbin. I’d love one of those fold up saws for my van as I’m living it in fulltime and my life is mostly camping in nature so the fact it folds down to nothing is perfect for the van to chop some wood for the cosy fire as it’s winter here in Australia but I’m realistic it’s not coming all this way. 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” x 1/8” angle would do the trick for the upper windows. Bend a tab up on each end to have something to fasten to the frame. Then silicone the crap out of it. It will work!❤
