Hey @SteeveeDan, Mine just started doing the slow hydraulics, I’m going to change the filter to start. Was your 3pt normal? My 3 point seems pretty normal but the bucket and lift are SLOW and take a while to warm up.
@SteeveeDan2 жыл бұрын
Yes, for reasons I still don't understand, the 3 point was fine. My bucket and tilt were affected the most.

I WENT THROUGH THIS !!! My Yanmar runs the same set up which makes sense since thats probably a green Yanmar. I had to get the correct filter from Hoye and it made all the difference.

Yes, the JD is a Yanmar. The filter was the biggest improvement, glad it worked for you too!

We recently bought an '85 850 4x4 with power steering and a loader. It probably never saw the inside of a garage and was beat on, but there was enough there to work with so we bought it. Today we drained the trans-hydraulic oil, flushed the housing with new oil, cleaned the screen, put a new NAPA hydraulic screw on filter on, and used premium Harvest King trans-hydraulic oil in. Before doing any of this, the dipstick on the top of the transmission suggested the oil was fine, but just to be safe, we did the service. Good thing, as the oil near the bottom was fairly milky (water is heavier than oil and goes to the bottom). We paid just over $50 for the spin on filter.

Curious, how well do your hydraulics work? I've been seeing the filter I bought much cheaper than what I paid for it, may boycott my NAPA store!

@@SteeveeDan They were slow when cold, but got better as the tractor warmed up. Now they are much better warm or cold.

@@WobblinGoblin1 Great! I was hoping you'd say that so I could confidently relate the filter to the improvement of the hydraulics in someone else's tractor.
@WobblinGoblin13 жыл бұрын
@@SteeveeDan Well, I'm sure the filter had something to do with it, but I think it was the combination of everything we did that made the difference. The old hydraulic oil had water in it, so flushing everything out as best we could and starting with new oil probably made the biggest difference. Then add in the new spin on filter and cleaning the screen out, too.

I'm so glad I found your video on this. I have a 950 that my wife's grandpa bought new in 95 and last year I went to use it and the hydraulics were really slow and sputtering. I looked on here and didn't find anything about it and that was the end of that. Then today went out to use the tractor bc we had gravel delivered and my drives like a 1/2 mile long so I definitely need it. Well the hydraulics are worse this year suprise surprise lol. So I have to try something. I'll be trying this. I'll get back on after I try changing that filter. Thanks again.

I have a 950 and fought the same problems. Once I removed completely the metal screen filter inside transmission. Now all I have to do is change my spin on. Fast flow and I don't have to mess with inside transmission filter anymore. Way faster.
@stevegarmier5632 жыл бұрын
I should try this bc mine ran OK for the first 3 or 5 times running it. But it then went back to being slow. I just worry taking that one completely out might mess something up. Bc every time u accidentally grind a gear it send metal flakes in the transmission case and without that it pumps that meal into the hydraulic pump and throughout the whole system. I can't imagine that's not going to be bad over time.
@jameslayfield56332 жыл бұрын
If you have a spin on filter that is just before pump then the filter should catch all of the bad stuff if it is suspended in oil. The original problem are gone. Speed is awesome, oil filter changes are way easier. No more a problem of taking out metal filter and draining. If flow shows spin on new filter. Hope it helps had to figure out on my own.
@jameslayfield56332 жыл бұрын
Also had to replace my hose from transmission to spin on filter because after suction flow was slowed from metal filter it collapsed the line.

I had a hydraulic line failure on the loader about a year ago and replaced all of the lines. While at it I replaced the fluid filter and cleaned the screen and replaced the fluid with JD Hy-guard recommended hydraulic fluid. All worked well for about 3 to 4 hours of operation both bucket and brush hog. Went to start it 2 days ago and the brush hog lifted fine but the bucket was very slow to lift. I had let it warm up for about 5 minutes. The bucket chattered a bit in movement and then did not lift. After that the 606 is lowered it now does not lift nor does the loader. Fluid level is fine and clean. The filter I put in was a push on type with the screen over it. Forgive me if I am missing an obvious point but there is a filter that screws on ? The 1229 ? Thanks !

There is a spin on filter as well. I have a vid about it, sorry, short on time right now so can't provide a link. Best luck!

So you are infact using her to move the big round bales. I was telling one of my cousins how I moved a 14-1500 pound pallet when rain was coming. Didn't think it would do it but she did, easily. I saw an old forum that states the dealership paperwork stated the model 75 loader on our 1050's infact "SAFELY" lift 1500 pounds to 2 meters, basically 6ft. So we know she'll lift more than that, and we can just shim our relief valve if we really want/need too The added weight, stronger drivetrain over even the 950 model, along with the slightly better geometry of the 75 helps her lift more. Always wanted concrete stats on what they'll lift! Mine being an 88 has the last iteration of from spindles, hubs and everything which were infact stepped up I guess 3 times. Even the first generation were strong as hell, only operators in horrible environments in a hurry with maxed out buckets full of gravel had issues tho. The super tight turning radius was the last part of the ole 1-2 combo
@SteeveeDan3 жыл бұрын
I actually have all of the manuals for the 1050 including parts, repair, loader, and operators manual. I honestly never looked to see what the recommended lift capacity is but I have lifted some 800 lb round bales and it does it when the hydraulics are working correctly. I also lifted and carried a long way a 20x30 metal carport. No idea what it weighed but the 1050 did it. Makes it pretty nose heavy though!

I’ve got the same issues you have on my 1050. Do you think the 1229 filter has that much lower restriction that it doesn’t starve the pump for oil in the winter?
@SteeveeDan3 жыл бұрын
Can't say 100% if it's the filter, the Starfire oil, or both but I'm telling ya my hydraulics have never worked this good in either of my 1050's (I've owned 2 of them).

@@SteeveeDan Well, I ordered a Napa gold 1229, mine was only $42 after a $10 coupon code. Currently I’m running the OEM filter and OEM oil. I plan on reusing the oil if it still looks good because it’s basically new. I’ll report back on my results.

@@whalen83 Apparently I always get ripped off! I paid 70 for mine. One thing I can say about the Starfire fluid is that so far it hasn't gone milky like the JD fluid did, twice. I've put a few hours on the machine with short runs and it's still crystal clear. The JD fluid would have started to change color by now so I'm really hoping all stays well. Good luck!

@@SteeveeDan Update: My unit is from the earlier serial numbers (0-11000). The filter for the earlier years is TY9425 or TY9425E. The 1229 filter did not fit. I tried to swap the filter without draining the oil. It was 15F this morning and my oil was still very thin but when the filter was off, barely any oil drained out. I wonder if this is normal or if there is some sort of blockage in that inlet. I am not currently running the inlet mesh filter, but removing that did not improve performance. My oil also looked very clean with no indication of water ingression. Lastly, I poked a hole in the OEM filter when I was removing it so now my tractor is down. Fortunately those are only $12 shipped from Amazon. I guess it's back to the drawing board. Looking at the parts catalog, I'm wondering if I should try going straight from the sump to the pump with a piece of suction hose to test if it's the filter restriction. I don't think it would be too hard to rig something up like that. If that solves my problems maybe I could get a larger hydraulic filter housing mounted up in there with low restriction.

@@whalen83 Awe man, so sorry. Both my 1050's took the same filter so I assumed (should have known better). Honestly my filter looked fine when I took it off and thought for sure the new filter wouldn't help but it actually did. Do they make a high flow filter for yours? I would still be interested in trying to by pass my spin on filter and just run the sump filter to see if it gets any better. Please keep me posted.
