Years ago, Stefano had a residency at my college’s music school. He came in and played this piece for my beginner guitar class and I’ll be damned if I didn’t start crying right there on the spot. The beauty of his music and the physical resonance of it being played live is something that sticks with me to this day. This video helps bring it back!

I saw him perform live waaaaay back at a restaurant in Austin Texas. He had technical difficulties with his rig. For about three minutes there was a loud hum coming from one of his pieces of equipment until he could sort it out. I was embarrassed because I brought people on with me who had t heard of him and I was really playing him up on the way there. After the technical problems his performance was flawless.

Explores the hidden depths and challenges of hammer on guitar playing. Beautifully invented. Perfectly keyed. Of course, deeply evocative of aerial boundaries, as all songs that mix reverb, hammer on drone, and harmonic syncopation will forever do.

Some interesting comments below, but to many that are ill judged. Yes yes yes he's using effects on his guitar....so what! Using effects correctly is a skill on its own and should be respected! This to me this is a work of art and NOT a technical masterpiece...what's wrong with that? Enjoy it for what it is and don't judge it by what it's not! And by the way, anyone with an ounce of experience will know that playing for this long with left hand hammer on and pull offs is NOT easy.

@ijirving9 жыл бұрын
***** Not sure about that in this case. The technical difficulty of what he's playing isn't that high, so I'd argue that a lot of players could physically recreate this. But as we're all aware, it's much harder to create than it is to replicate.
