Trail cameras are such a great tool for seeing just how much wildlife is around that we never even realize are there. I've picked up a bobcat twice on my trail cameras in the past few years which was quite the surprise. I was finally able to see one last month with my own eyes for the first time too. As for the racoon and fox, I don't get too many foxes on my cameras but I have seen raccoons around deer/fawns, coyotes and even right next to black bears sharing food sources. Quite possible other animals don't really view them as a real threat or competition. I've also found the odd carcass of racoons on my property that were left untouched by other predators which leads me to believe that they don't taste very good either or not viewed as a food source. Very cool getting video of moose as well! I'm in southern Ontario so I usually have to travel a bit in order to see them but last year I had tracks of one right behind my house but never came across my cameras.
@TheWildlifeHomestead Жыл бұрын
That's so cool! I'm really hoping to get a Lynx at some point on mine. That's a very interesting point about the raccoons. When I see raccoon road kill, the main animal picking at them is Turkey Vultures.

I had a couple fox kits on my property a few years ago and I cannot tell you how stunning they were. I observed them daily and saw how they play like puppies do. It was hilarious when one day I had the sprinkler on during a very hot day - the one kit jumped right in but the other was apprehensive. I turned the pressure down so he wouldn't be scared but that spigot is a little volatile so when the timid one came closer the water sputtered and got him all wet - thought he would run but instead dove right in - like learning how to swim! I have found you really get more of an appreciation and respect for wildlife when you observe them! Keep up the good work Stefano!

I just want to thank you. And I don’t mean that in the context of entertaining me with your high quality nature videos. I mean it as recognition of your morality and commitment to making our planet better. Your knowledge of the living beings you share the homestead with is only eclipsed by your knowledge of how our species can begin to make amends to the environment we have decimated and plundered for so long. In your own way, you are rectifying the dereliction of stewardship of this place we and the foxes call home. In short, you are making the world a better place. I watch your videos for the hope I find flowing through them, like a river finding a new course to the sea. Thank you, Stefano. Beautiful as always Stefano and I love to see you continue developing the land... Good idea on the wallow pond extension for the Moose if you have them. Here in NH they are becoming seldom seen unfortunately-likely due to tick infestations....
