If you need a little more tension you might consider adding a little spacer between the end of the spring and that little circular indentation where the sits into. Try a dime and then try to add another if need be, or something similar. If it works then fix it into place with with J&B. Just a thought. Personally, I have a some wonderful vintage and new well appointed new guitars but my travel guitar is an inexpensive Steinberger Spirit GT Pro. It works pretty well but I find the stock R-Trem to be useless because it is so damn stiff. I am actually considering the idea of routing a space beneath it, adding a traditional metal block, claw and springs (like on all traditional trems) because I believe that this MIGHT give me the best of both worlds: The ability to function as a headless bridge but also have the smoother movement of a Floyd, Strat, PRS, etc. What could possibly go wrong! :)

I just got a Chinese Steinberger (Chynberger?) and the set screws for adjusting the action don't seem to do anything.

Cheers Doug, really interesting video & the Steinberger sounds great! Wish I hadnt of sold my Trans Blue Synapse 4 years ago as now I'm having trouble finding another one. Had to go for the Kiesel HH2X instead.

What do you need to do is to put that bridge in the garbage and get a J-custom tremolo or an original or licensed steinberger r-trem.

I had one of those Overlord of Music bridges, but ended-up having to replace it because the threads for the Master-tuning screw stripped-out under tension and I couldn't tune the guitar up to pitch.

Not sure why you need the screws right at the back, that stop the bridge floating and the main spring working?

Hi. Do you have the part number and specs for the 2 inch spring you found? You didn't list it, Or I missed that bit of info. I called Mcmaster and gave the spec of the 1.75 length one you described. except in the 1.95 length. they said it would be a custom order and be like 200 dollars for one spring. Help please!! Thank you!

I have a Steinberger Spirit (new model, made out of wood), and the intonation on that thing makes me sick. I can adjust the 12th fret nicely to match the open string, my main issue is the very first frets, they always sound off key, and also some frets around the 5th and 6th frets... What would be your suggestion to fix that issue?

So the tremolo arm is not threaded? Haven't seen the original one yet.

Got it on eBay - it was a "husk'" - no pick ups, bridge or any other hardware..

Thanks for the video ! Could you please tell me how deep the trem cavity is from the top ... how deep the spring cavity is and how deep the bigger cavity is ? Im having some trouble with it Or how high is the apex of the saddle from the guitar body top ?

No. I think it's a "neck through" design rather than a set neck, but not sure.
