@@filon8893 By watching in that order, you are especially watching everything from the character development to the entire story arc stop abruptly before it could finish then, because the way you're watching, a new story arc and a new character development is then wedged into the current one.

@@filon8893 No. It's one way to watch it, sure, and it can be an interesting way to rewatch it when you've already seen it once. However Steins;Gate was created to be its own independent story. When it was made, S;G 0 wasn't even planned yet. Watching S;G and S;G 0 in that weird order messed up the story structure, character development etc.

You guys are going to witness one of the best animes ever made. Writing a good story about time travel is hard; really hard in fact. The risk of over-saturation of exposition, plot holes, contradicting real-life science, paradoxes, and lacking understanding of the concept yourself is very high and it only takes one thing to wrong before the entire plot collapses on itself. Steins;gate is a rare example of time travel done right. This story start SUPER SLOWLY, but will soon DELIVER to blow your mind. Once you pass the first slow starting episodes, the intrigue and mystery begins, and the pace of the series accelerates. The plot throws in numerous surprises and sudden, unexpected turns that, in turn, creates a powerful ending that is almost flawless. Also, you're hit bluntly in the face with quite a lot of feels early on in the series. The music is fabulous, fitting EVERY situation. And the character development is outstanding, especially Okabe. Our protagonist's full name is Okabe Rintarou (hence the nickname Okarin). Hououin Kyouma is his mad scientist persona name. He is well known as a chuunibiyou, which is a japanese character archetype. Its basically an act he puts on to stand out or look cool. Remember roleplaying as a cool character when you were a kid? That's practically what he is. The organization, creating gadgets for chaos and destroying the ruling structure are all nonsense he's made up to be this cool standout character. That's the shtick of a chuunibiyou. That is why his super haka friend Daru brush off his ravings calling him delusional. Its also something that these kinds of people use for social anxiety reasons. For example you already see in ep 1 when he met Kurisu that he uses the phone as a coping mechanism to escape awkward situations. Btw since you're already onto episode 3 on Patreon I'll go more in depth on the characters. Okabe, Daru and Kurisu are 18 and are uni students. Mayuri, Luka (shrine boy) and Faris (cat girl) are 16. Moeka (quiet girl) is 20-21.

Just to let you guys know(I don’t know if you know this or not), Steins;Gate is part of a shared universe called the Science Adventure series. Three other shows I remember right off hand that are in the Science Adventure series are Chaos;Head, Chaos;Child, and Robotics;Notes. Steins;Gate is the only one with time travel, while Chaos;Child and Chaos;Head are both about people with supernatural abilities, and Robotics;Notes, like the name suggests, is about robots. Robotics;Notes has a crossover visual novel with Steins;Gate. I recommend all three of these other shows.

Wow, great show for you guys... so much to theorise and analyse, going to be a great run of reactions. Commenters can't talk much about what to focus on without spoiling aspects of the show but I will say more for the 'us that have seen this' - this often is talk about as being a show in two parts, the first part is not bad... it's actually great, I feel these reaction will let us remember how good it was. Once you finish the series it completes the story but there is an OVA set after it; then a special "episode 23b" to watch before the 'second' series - what they are will make sense once the first series is complete; explaining them would be spoilers! There is a film set after the first series, but it's non-cannon and not particularly well received; it could be watched anytime after the first series, but only with the understanding that it doesn't completely fit with the rest of the story. So looking forward to these reactions!
