Stell looking at David while performing was perhaps a natural instinct because he was somehow grasping through David Foster's lead as this performance was unplanned. Stell was a last-minute addition to the show as the front act. He was just supposed to sing 3 songs - All I Ask by Adele (but he did the Bruno Mars version), Defying Gravity, and his solo song ROOM. But during his rehearsal/sound check, David Foster asked him on stage while DF was rehearsing and asked Stell to try to sing All By Myself. Stell was so confused but agreed and DF guided him to the arrangement and Stell was just basically trying to sing along without much effort, doing falsetto and all as he doesn't know why they're doing that coz it's not included in his set list. After that, DF asked him if he'd like to sing it. Still confused, Stell answered, "if it's okay with you Sir". Stell finished performing his 3 songs (being the front act), and then he was called back again by DF during the main show. DF went on to challenge Stell that he only has one shot at nailing the note (even showing a clip of Celine Dion hating on DF for giving her the impossible note). Stell was obviously very nervous and pressured but it was a big opportunity he can't let past. And he NAILED IT! So proud of our boy!

Yes and the funny thing is he was confused the whole time they were rehearsing this until David said Ok you will sing this tonight. That was when it hits him. He was given that one time to sing it in this concert.😊

Thanks for the RV! All By Myself was not part of his planned songs as front act. During the sound check David Foster asked him to try All By Myself an 1 hr before the concert. They did a couple of runs. He was not prepared yet delivered an amazing performance

It was actually an impromptu performance. Stell was only supposed to be the opening act but when he was rehearsing, David Foster asked him if he would like to sing All By Myself. Stell was so nervous during that time that he was singing the song actually.

Stell was like that to David because he was looking for cues or some sort of guidance because he did not rehearse for the song. The only 'rehearsal' he got for this one, if you can even call it a rehearsal, is the one time brief run down for the arrangement with David hours before the show. If you observe Stell, he looked quite tense and nervous which he admitted in an interview. If you also see, there was a part where Stell was murmuring to himself during the piano solo. He was actually trying to remember and play in his mind the last part of the song at that time. He talked all about this experience in an interview. All by myself was a last minute addition by David. As David is known to make such changes in his show. So this wasn't part of the program list at all. Stell was only to sing 3 songs as an opening act. But he was kind and brave enough to accept Mr.David's request. As Stell said, who is he, to decline a David Foster. So that is the backstory of this viral performance. Thanks for the reaction. ❤

What makes this performance even more incredible is that Stell was only supposed to be an opening act and this "All By Myself" performance was unplanned, not part of the concert repertoire, and an impromptu challenge from David Foster. It's insane to think that he had already sung three high-pitched and vocally demanding songs, and to top it off, he's not in the best condition (he's sick). I had to mention, too, that a day prior to the concert, SB19 had intense performances at an event. And the elephant in the room-he's a man, hitting the piece in female key and doing it cleanly. Stell is a legend in the making!

Stell Ajero (pronounced the Spanish way, a-HEH-ro). In an interview he said he had tuned out the audience and was focusing closely on David Foster and listening to the orchestra. He wasn't really aware of anything else around him. 😊
