I just sent him an email about security dodge on long island for their predatory market adjustment mark ups of up to $100k over sticker (demons). They had hellcats in 2015 marked up to over $93k. Theyve made millions off of literally robbing their customers and ive tried multiple times to get them to sell me a car for sticker and they openly laughed in my face. They deserve to be shut down and imprisoned for fraud. Thanks for the idea
@mfoubert165218 күн бұрын
I woulda bought a hellcat for sticker at the time, but instead ended up at another dealer with a custom ordered for me 2015 300s hemi awd in raceline red with the black roof and I waited 14 weeks to get my car but they lease me it 15k miles a year, 36 month lease, $475 a month with only whatever taxes and legitimate fees like registration and destination. That was a fair deal for a $55,000 car and that many mile lease nothing down. Very fair. Something most greedy dealers want nothing to do with.

These days of reckoning are long overdue. There are way too many CDJR dealerships selling way too few cars. The cars are boring, dated, uncompetitive, and have been vastly overpriced on the sticker. Mostly, they sit on the lot and collect rust. Many of these stores were probably knocking at bankruptcy's door, and having trouble making the floor plan payments, long before Stellantis got interested--if they really are, given that they are getting stiffed on floor plan payments--in their sales pricing practices.
@huntsimple952717 күн бұрын
Why didn't the GM Saturn experiment work out? Remember, the whole idea behind Saturn was ZERO negotiating. The price on the sticker was the price, period. Dealers could not add anything or take anything off. Why is the auto industry any different than going to buy a TV at Walmart? Most auto dealers are owned by greedy and sketchy people, that is why. My local CDJR dealer, thankfully, is family owned and they are solid. They never offer the deepest discounts, but they also never gouge above MSRP. They are middle of the road ALL THE TIME. I will take that steady approach over these dealers that swing from gouging to 30% off. Those dealers that swing so far are managed by losers. Truth.
@houseofno16 күн бұрын
I am CHEERING this. This should have been done YEARS ago. Better late than never. If it were up to me, I would cap dealership profit margins at fifteen percent. PERIOD. That's right. You heard me. Somehow God makes do with ten, why do these people need more? Now if Stellantis can just get a handle on their product line and quality control, they just might be able to turn their brand around.

While I hate to think of the lower level employees losing their jobs, I have to back this kind of decision. These kind of practices affect the consumer and the manufacturer, as we all know. Back when the retro Thunderbird (OK, I know it's not CDJR) was released, I very much wanted to buy one. The dealer markups in South Florida approached 100%. When the initial hype wore off, suddenly nobody was buying the car. Still, the dealerships here and in many other areas continued unconscionable premiums. The result was that sales completely evaporated and the car was considered a sales failure. The car was really a relatively good value (I did finally find one in NYC at a reasonable price - no markup on MSRP), but it was not worth double the price. And to your point, reliability is definitely a factor. If the T-Bird had used the Ford 4.6L V-8, rather than Jaguar mechanicals, reliability would have been more of a selling point. Sorry for the digression into a different brand, but I think it supports the new Stellantis philosophy of treating the customer fairly and with respect.

All the decades of dealer disrespect for the consumer comes back to haunt. Post war (that’s WWII) automotive production had not rebounded. If you wanted a car, you had to buy the salesman‘s necktie. Dealerships have been peeing in the pool for decades. Undercoating treatments or polishes, any manner of ridiculousness to grab another hundred dollar in the gross now bites you on the ass. All these multimillion dollar Auto Palaces are experiencing the karma from their decades of abuse. Having worked there I feel no sympathy. Ye shall reap what ye have sown.

You can absolutely look up vaules and prices nationwide and locally. You should not have to play stupid games. Its stressful because they are trying to screw you as hard as they can. Also service work done with a Warranty or Extended warranty they sell is another issue. I've had to call the RAM complaint line because because they didn't want to honor the extended warranty , i.e, same day rental for maintenance. Oh we don't have a loaner or a rental. They act like they never heard of it? Whatever issues they have with the labor rate is between the dealer and Ram and those problems should be transparent to the customer. Trying to negotiate, and trying to tell your discount from a rebate you get regardless is something they are including. This mentality ruins the experience.
