They need to sell the rights to the Jeep brand name to a company who is willing to do a total rebuild and make it as tough and reliable as the original Willeys Jeep. My second car, other than the 92 Jeep Wrangler is a 2020 BMW i3s REX. REX is short for range extender. Gets around 170 miles in pure EV mode. Press a button and the 2.2 gallon gas powered scooter engine powers a generator to maintain the state of charge. It’s brilliant when I can drive past EV chargers that have a back up of 3-4 cars waiting for electric. I press the button, can go another 80 miles and if I have to I grab 2.2 gallons of gas and keep going. It’s a brilliant car. Gets about 30 mpg in REX mode.

The bottom line is all car manufacturers and dealers are asking more money for lower quality vehicles that can't be easily/affordably repaired. Combine that with a rapidly increasing cost of living, people are choosing, and rightly so, to put that money into higher priority expenses: Houses are up. Food is up. Utilities are up. I can ride the bus, a bike, or carpool. I can't let my family go hungry. I blame the government for literally all of this.

About the Corvette my kid bought one of the last C7s made in 2019. Less than a month before C7s production ended. It was built to their specific order and they got museum delivery in Bowling Green. They wanted a true American Roadster. Not a knockoff of a European supercar. They also know that of any GM production run, it is not until about year 4 that the quality goes way up as problems of a new model get worked out of a design. They found this with their 2004 Cavalier that was still running great when they traded it in 2015 with 195,000 miles on it. They still see it on the road where they live now and then. They also avoided the C8 as they know that GM products in their first year of production have a lot of issues. But getting back to their C7, they still get offers for more than they paid for it. Often from the dealer they bought it through.

@@mattphillips1910 Yup! Stellantis/FCA doesn't care, it wants to get BACK to becoming just FIAT so Jeep/RAM is being sold off but keep the DODGE/Chrysler brands which makes the Caravan and other Minivans because they are very popular in North America. I heard this from someone with DIRECT ACCESS to someone very high up in the Stellantis hierarchy. They want to START the sell-off process by this December 2024. Again, BYD wants the Warren Factory, the Technical Design centre and another facility. My contact did say there weren't sure if BYD just wants the property and buildings that the Warren and Technical Design Centre occupy or actually want the actual Jeep/RAM brands! ANOTHER CONTACT has said BYD just wants the factories and design centre themselves as they will be designing and build all-EV vehicles in those factories for the US and Canadian markets that let them bypass import duties. I contacted one of my Singapore journalist colleagues who has "informants" at BYD and he/she said that BYD is going to build a BMW-X3-size near-luxury all-EV SUV that has an actual 400 miles or 600 km driving range which will be sold for only $24,999 USD which will debut in 2026 if they get the factory in 2025. That SUV design which I have seen before ALREADY HAS all the major North American safety standards and equipment designed-in and on-board AND it actually sells for MUCH LESS in China than it will be sold for here! My contact says the first BYD all-EV SUVs will come out 18 months after they get the factory bought-out, which i absolutely HAVE NO DOUBT they can do as I have SEEN that in China, entire factories are started from scratch in as little as SIX MONTHS! They realized the USA will take longer so it was changed to be 18 months until first production! AND my contact says their own TRUCK designs will be coming to North America a few months after being made in the SAME factory! North American factories CANNOT COMPETE since BYD EV factories are COMPLETELY AUTOMATED having almost NO employees and are HIGHLY FLEXIBLE making multiple platforms on the same highly-automated factory lines! No US automaker can make and sell a 400+ mile range EV SUV for only $24,999 USD and a $29,999 full-size hybrid truck ....AND... since BYD will be making them here in the USA, no import duties need be paid! GM and Ford will be BANKRUPT in less than 5 years with this sort of pricing onslaught! V
