The Pro Max mode with TAA is resolving more detail than Pro Mode with PSSR but with the trade off of some instability in fine detail like hair. It's a toss up between more detail or more FPS and FPS wins every time.

What's the deal with these "Prioritize Performance" modes? Will they actually give you higher FPS, or is it just marketing fluff? I've tried a lot of games recently, and it's becoming a struggle to understand what each mode actually does. Should I expect better FPS? Will the resolution drop? Is ray tracing off or on? The lack of clear explanations is really disappointing. Anyone else feeling overwhelmed by this?

Generally with perf mode you get higher fps, usually aiming for 60 but sometimes it will fall (vrr helps), and image quality takes a hit / lower res. Quality mode would give highest visuals but usually means 30 fps, most seem to keep stable here as the fps target is lower, and i would think Ray tracing usually belongs in a quality mode more than perf, it's about image so. it also depends what each game offers with their modes, but usually it is to give options between what you prefer the game to focus on, broadly performance / quality.

i cant give exact answer but has to do with you want the right levels of lighting in your viewing environment, which is mostly dark but if you can a little bit of light can be good, so like behind the tv where it does not disturb your eyes or interfere with the screen, i think it might elevate the picture a bit. also it helps your eyes a little bit as opposed to complete darkness viewing a screen, I know bc I actually use a light behind my PC monitor and it's much much better on my eyes that way, the screen light isnt so intense

I do it because it looks cool. It’s for immersion. The lights I have come with a camera and an app. The camera takes into account what colors are on the screen and where, the colors are then translated to the lights around the room or/and behind the tv in real time. It’s neat technology and just looks cool. It doesn’t help with anything gaming wise. You won’t play better if that is what you were asking. Think “backlighting”. That’s all it is. Looks freaking cool in the room and useless to everyone else who is either jelly or doesn’t care to spend the money. 😂

I do it because watching a bright screen in a very dark room is hard on your eye muscles. It's just what your iris naturally does to correct for darkness or brightness. If you have both very bright objects close to very dark areas, your brain is confused as to what to correct for which causes eye strain. This can actually cause headaches as well. By keeping the area behind your screen somewhat lit you are making it easier to watch the TV while also not causing glare on the screen. In other words, what Dezzyyx said. LOL

The problem I’m having with Stellar Blade on the Pro is that if you play the unedited version offline, which requires you to delete the game and redownload it from your disc while still offline, then you lose the ability to use the Pro performance modes. I can’t tell that big of a difference from the regular balanced mode and performance modes on the pro. I feel like the pro automatically makes the regular balanced mode look good. I just hate the censorship. This sucks.

Those higher than 60 fps frame rates are helping with the fast motion blur on my LG G4 OLED. I bought it about 2 or 3 months ago coming from a Panasonic plasma so I'm new to OLED tech. I noticed the fast motion blurring right away while playing Astrobot. But I still love my G4, but definitely love the Panasonic plasma more than before!

lol no, it's really not. you've just gotten used to gaming on a POS mickey mouse console. The Pro is what the basic PS5 should've been all along. It's what they showed us years before it was even available, but then scaled back on everything to fit it under $500. My Maingear 13900k/4090 is a remarkable machine. The Pro is just a decent console by today's standards.It's equivalent to a 4060/4070 fidelity, which is pretty mid by PC standards.

Yep. It uses dynamic 1080p - 1440p upscaled to 4k. So when enabled the 80fps mode it goes to 1080p

Can't see any difference on ff7. If you see some differences about trees and others things it might be just because you're looking at a close distance to your monitor. Many people have said that if you watch on a tv, you almost can't see any differences. The one who can see more inage details have up to 80 inch TV!

Unreal Engine 5 games with PSSR on PS5 Pro are definitely going to be a gigantic graphics upgrade. Immortals of Aveum with FSR 2 runs at 720p on PS5 and it looks like complete garbage, the upscaling issues and artifacts completely ruin the experience. I wouldn't be shocked if with PSSR and a slightly higher rendering resolution on the Pro due to the better GPU, it would bring the game from a complete image quality nightmare to totally playable and enjoyable. I mean, from personal experience, I have tested DLSS in Performance mode on an Nvidia RTX GPU on a 4K screen which is 1080p upscaled to 4K and it looks good. Its not the sharpest thing ever, but its more than acceptable.

@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 yes all or most of the 8000 plus ps4 games will benefit from the boost. But you have to go into settings to enable it from what I understand it’s not automatic until you go into settings And not all ps4 games will benefit from the boost keep that in mind. But most will from my understanding

The problem is most people already played stellar blade and other games and that s is a bummer.
