i feel like slingshot + pre-ftl + scintillating skin lithoid + hivemind is the best plan for this idea insane scouting speed, zero reliance on hyperlanes, basically zero influence cost for taking outposts - you'll have colonies in every corner of the galaxy before the crisis spawns. some of your hive will die, but at least one world will be in the perfect location!

There's an option that allows you to force a custom made empire you made to spawn in every game you make. This carries over into multiplayer. This is important because you can then use the slider that decides the amount of empires that spawn in conjunction to force the spawning of only Devouring Swarms, Fanatic Purifiers, Necrophages, Criminal Corps, Barbaric Despoilers, Driven Assimilators, and a Determined Exterminator (only one though because they'll ally each other and that's way more problematic than a couple bandits allying).

The DA and the DE can ally too. Same with the BD or CC if they are a robot empire.

@@Endless-fire In my experience the DA and DE haven't been very friendly to one another, but maybe the Machine Age changed how that worked? And if you're particularly concerned about BD/CC going robo there are ways to force certain ascension paths on AI empires using the origins, either way that's a problem for the mid-late game.

@@gaylordzapikowski9053 DE have a -1,000 opinion of organic main species, and a +100 to machine intelligences (bar rogue servitors who get a -200) MI also get a +30 to each other. So a DE likes DA distastes RS and is neutral to non gestalt robots. Btw one of the best interactions is RS to DE, since RS HATE DE.

2:39 Looks like someone didn't plan around influence. You SHOULD have used "Slingshot to the stars". This origin starts you next to a ruined megastructure that once restored can fling you from one end of the galaxy to the other. The origin also makes it easier to colonize systems far from home, something which is absurdly difficult otherwise. An alternative plan would be militarist psychic origin, eating the entire galaxy yourself before the crisis even got the chance. Psychic start is famously broken.

My favorite game of Stellaris I've ever played was when I teamed up with a buddy who had INSANE production. he was assimilating every planet he could, and was a threat to everyone else. I happened to have the strongest military. I also happened to be so far over my fleet limit that I was producing over 230 energy per turn and still was over 100 negative. we proceeded to steamroll everyone.
