I definately like the changes. I still feel Stellaris needs more "special" traditions , and more traditions in general, as well as a wider perk list (cause when you play gestalts, then you basically have just one path because the rest is off limits) and more perk slots to fill. I play a lot of Void Dwellers, and one of the things that popped out in the Patch Notes is the Planetary Prospecting thing. It would essentially allow you to put resource generating habitats in places where they shouldn't be. This would let you cram a lot more habitats in systems and still have them be productive. One of my beefs about Void Dwellers (even though I love them) was that a lot of the Traditions and Ascension perks just didn't apply.

Ringworld nerf sucks balls. Balancing can often start to ruin the fun in a game by reducing uniquness so it doesn't even matter what you pick anymore, because nothing gives you an edge. That is balancing done wrong, you don't want that kind of equality in a game, you want diversity. A game can also be balanced by making everything OP and broken, equally. If everything has a unique OP edge, that is also fairness, and it's much more fun to play than a game where everything is balanced by nerfing so all the factions flatline into this blurry mess inconsequential edgeless clones. Shattered ring didn't just get nerfed though, it got dicked, hard.

I have one question about planetary specialization. As a Machine Empire in last update I always had way too much building slots open and I didn't really know what to fill them with. I had dedicated mining world's where pops worked mining districts but since I did not have much minerals to develop my Habitats and planets I didn't want to build any buildings because they cost minerals and I did not have pops to work them anyways. I just put Machine assembly plant in there and kept building slots open only putting rare resource refineries when I had deficit. I guess I just need to decide if planet will be specialized on menial or complex output because the designation bonuses are really powerful.

@hobnails3 жыл бұрын
Ringworld low on the tierlist? Sadly not. You can still easily spike 400 - 500 research early game (talking first 15 years), and the upgraded Alloy forge (easily researchable with high tech and early access to motes) gives 5 metallurgist jobs per district, meaning if you have 2 districts and the upgraded alloy foundry, that's like 22 metallurgist jobs, again, could easily get this set up by 20 - 30 years in game. So you have a build that can hit 500 tech, then switch over to 100+ alloys a month in optimal circumstances. You get the minerals by buying them monthly, which you can usually afford. Rogue Servitors, which were always some of the best Shattered Ring occupiers and used lithoid biotrophies, can't even feel the habitability changes, and can compensate for loss of guaranteed worlds. They are the top dog of the meta right now, with necrophages nipping at their heels.

Also while there might not be quaranteed worlds, tried 3 spawns and every single time there was several worlds. Also generator segment for driven assimilator is just tech jobs and housing no clerks. All in all, small nerf for machines on the tech front but overall works wonders still.

@fuffybear68653 жыл бұрын
@@exantiuse497 nowhere in my statement did I say it was :P what I stated was a prescription, not a description. While it does make it so you don’t ever have to clear blocker tiles, that 10% is a big hit. Etc. etc. but I don’t play like that...most of the times. I play in the shoes of the species I create, role play if you will. So for those that play in that mode, you can alleviate the slow growth and just simply tech rush hive world and get a slower tech start than you otherwise would have. I love the change but I expected pop growth limitations to occur only if there is NO HOUSING on a planet. If I have 10 free jobs and 20 housing, I have +1.5 pop growth (with horrendous cost) which is ridiculous, how am I supposed to fill those remaining jobs? The overall empire cost is also cool but only if there are significant boosts to pop growth on planets with huge housing available. What's become meaningless in the game now (my observations - biological ascension, Admiral): 1. Pop growth traits, Xenophobe for pop growth - penalties later/boosts early are so great now that it makes no sense to use it. 2. Less housing usage traits - with penalties, I am unable to fill remaining jobs because it gets so slow, trying to squeeze as many pops as possible for maximum efficiency on a planet is impossible. 3. Delicious trait (Livestock - related to housing). Livestock takes at least 50% of housing and takes no jobs. On my food planet with much housing for livestock I had tons of farmer jobs and housing available and the population wouldn't grow at all, I had to change my livestock to Chattel Slavery and remove delicious from them so jobs can be taken at all - farmer jobs produce much more food. It's now completely useless. 4. RING WORLDS - they can be removed from the game basically. Ring world remains the only viable option for the shattered ring origin. If you get it in the late game, it's absolutely impossible to fill jobs despite crazy huge housing/jobs available. Or is it designed in a way that I should abandon my planets/habitats and migrate all my pops manually to a ringworld (except for from planets that produce energy/minerals)? The tech boost in the late game for quick repeatables stacking cannot be achieved now. 5. Fortress habitats - should already be obvious that fortifying choke points and increasing naval capacity through them is impossible now. 6. Clone vats - their upkeep is so huge that it requires 1.5job of perfectly specialized species on a Gaia world with an extra +20% food modifier, and they're not going to return the investment in the late game after 20 years to produce one pop. With so limited population it's better to make those pops work literally elsewhere than on food. 7. Any high living standards that provide bonuses for the unemployed while keeping them happy - not only having unemployed is impossible due to automatic migration + it's inefficient and too costly early, it's also impossible to have any unemployment from the midgame and beyond. 8. AI difficulty - extra resources make no difference for AI, they can't even stand against the mid-game crisis. Conclusion: 1. Keep the empire-wise diminishing return for pop cost but lower it a bit. 2. Tweak the pop growth bonus/penalty so it corresponds to available housing, not the planet size. The penalty should kick in when there's no housing at all - kind of forced declared population controls. It will still reduce pops late game while keeping planets functional.

I still for the life of me cannot understand how to get more building slots if you have to build cities to get them. If a planet only has 4 city slots and you can only upgrade the planetary administration twice then you can only get 6 slots out of the bunch. Will some planets just be limited in building slots then? Everyone says this is better than v2 but I find it very difficult when it’s not based on pops like it used to be.

For example at 8:28 you have all the building slots unlocked and filled but only one city district so if building city districts opens them then how did you unlock them all with only having one city district?

Just tried yr 10 military rush with PU origin. Everything looks great- conquered the capital planet of the first encounter, enslaved all of them and economy started to boom. Then found that my fleet got stuck in the system because borders are closed. I think this is a bug?

Does an energy grid have to be placed on an energy planet or will it just boost your entire empires energy output ?

How should I build my planetary buildings in the new update?
@Stefan_Anon3 жыл бұрын
Specialize your planets with buildings, spam science. GG
@carmansi86233 жыл бұрын
@@Stefan_Anon Yeah I saw your science spam in Cold War haha. Another question about buildings. Should I build some districts first before buildings or should I build first some buildings and afterwards I build the districts I specialized through the buildings? How many „normal“ districts should I build until I build another city for a building?
