Stellaris - Space Combat

Sometimes, I just want to see something simple about a game before buying it. Something like a quick preview of what combat is like, but without all the bells and whistles of intros, added background music etc. This is a great example of that, and you have made my mind for me on buying this game. Tomorrow I embark on a galactic adventure in Stellaris. Thank you. :)

This game is just marvelous. I play it in 2021 and still can't believe it came out in 2016.

Any of you tried sending a fleet comprised of up to 30 corvettes, 10-15 destroyers, 5-8 cruisers and 2-5 destroyers? You'll never get rid of the feeling once they start doing blitz on the enemy, especially with a fleet power of 80k-140k.

Do you control your ships at all during combat or is it purely cinematic like Endless Space and Galactic Civilization?

you don't. the only option you have is to retreat the battle. but you have control on shop design and this is important aspect

There are also combat rolls, wich are however assigned in the ship designer and not in combat.

@@tuto0000000000000 Sorry, this was a long time ago, I have no idea what weapons I had, but I know I didn't have any mods for sure. It's a shame I didn't end up liking Stellaris so much, it felt like Endless Space 2 had much more polished graphics and UI and a more modern tactical combat system. But I guess Stellaris is a totally different game, it's a strategic / political simulator closer to EU4 or Crusader Kings.
