A technique taught to me by Lynne Perella, and once you start bumping your stencils you won't be able to stop either. It adds more depth to what you do, and gives an awesome matte background with Fresco Chalk acrylic Paints, perfect to stamp on.

Hi Tracey We miss seeing people at the shows too, but if you are going to the NEC, Stampers Grove will be there in 2019 and they carry a wide range of our stamp collections, paints etv on their stand.

Great techniques. I don't have a sanding block, so I'll try a emery board maybe?
@PaperArtsy
@PaperArtsy 8 жыл бұрын
You could go to a hardware store and get some fine grit sandpaper. That would be easier to manage than an emery board.

Love this, does it matter if you use opaque or any others? I mean for the background really, could I just use opaque layer on layer?
@MrsPaperArtsy
@MrsPaperArtsy 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Christella, I prefer to use opaques as they block out the BG so you get a good contrast, but if i want to use a translucent, I will block with an opaque first (snowflake) and then use the bright on top. I find that it looks better if you have a dark colour under, and a lighter colour on top - the other way round and it looks blurry.

trying it, when I lifted stencil off, it was quite smudged under it, it slightly leaked under stencil even though I tried not to put to much on the sponge
@MrsPaperArtsy
@MrsPaperArtsy 5 жыл бұрын
I find it matters how you load your CND foam with paint. You want about a tablespoon of paint loaded into the 2" foam by pressing down on the foam with flat fingers on the black side until the whole black side is squished down onto your table top. release the pressure, repeat until the foam is loaded with paint, but there is no 'blob' or lump of paint on the surface. Now you are ready to gently tap over the stencil if it is detailed, or smooch in circles if it is a simpler design. In general, if the paint is seeping under the stencil you are using too much paint OR you are being too heavy handed in how you apply it. Final tip, keep the foam flat as you tap do not bend or angle as you apply, as that too will mean the paint is not being evenly applied.

OMG...I just found you thanks to Pintrest (yea) I love this technique...does it only work with the type of paint you are using? thanks
@MrsPaperArtsy
@MrsPaperArtsy 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Meli Isen I am sure you can achieve this with other opaque paints too. The beauty of frescos is they dry so fast there is no need for a heat tool in between layers :)

@PaperArtsy

No you can use any paint, but you will just need to wait longer for them to dry, that is the beauty of frescos they dry so fast.

Cool, I haven't tried it, I imagine the translucence of inks will layer up beautifully allowing all the colours and layers underneath to still be seen. Must try it!
