Do you need to ream out the reel seat?

In most cases, the reel seat is going to have a larger inner diameter than the outer diameter of the blank. We utilize arbors to center the reel seat on the blank and hold it in place with epoxy. In some cases, usually with reel seats that have cut outs for feeling the rod blank, you would choose a reel seat that has the inner diameter close to the diameter of the blank where the reel seat will fall. If the seat is slightly too narrow, you can ream them out a bit to ensure a snug fit.
