I planted 10 daffodils and theybare doing amazing, and i planted 20 tulips but 17 of them rotted and some looked like they were carrying diseases 😅 Only 1 of the 3 left sprouted

Amazing about the daffodils! 👏 shame about the tulips 🌷 😕 I'm brutal now with my bulbs that are diseased because they won't grow and will potentially pass diseases to other plants 🙂 just chalk it up to experience and enjoy your singular tulip!🌷

I've bought tulips and hyacinths this month and I already have some tiny sprouts in the pot where my tulips are. I can't wait to see how the whole thing will come out! 😃

Signs of life! As I wrote to Laitie above, your bulb foliage should be fine when the cold weather comes, if things get particularly nasty you can protect the foliage by mulching, using horticultural fleece over them or if they're in pots and it gets really bad you can bring them inside for a short time. 🌷

Do you think baby hyacinth bulbs will grow to the size of the ones we get from stores? I have small ones the size of a clove of garlic!

Hi Cristina, absolutely! It might take some seasons and consistent care but the big ones started off as little ones too 😉

Have you ever had bulbs coming out in October? I planted some of my bulbs in partly shaded flower bed in mid-September and noticed they have sprouted...it's crazy!

Hi Laitae, Im guessing where you live is still relatively warm? Bulbs are so fascinating, they start growing as soon as they're planted so if the weather is warm enough they'll start sending out foliage. It should stop though as the weather cools, hopefully the foliage won't be damaged too much. I did a video about early emergence and what to do, let me try and link it somewhere here and that has more information for you 😃

@@balconiagarden thank you, I'll check it out:) yes, it's very mild at the moment in terms of temperature (my part of Scotland at least). I do hope it can be helped!

@@laitae a fellow Scot! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I wouldn't worry too much, bulbs are tough and hardy, you could protect the foliage with mulch if you get snow and frost or if they're in pots bring them inside if the weather gets particularly nasty 🌷

I’d love to know what you do with old soil/ compost from pots that you’ve emptied out. I only have a small paved yard so can’t put it into the garden. I was planning to re-use it but not sure if it’s the best idea!

Hi Grace, I always re-use my compost I also mix in some OM every season to keep the nutrients high. Provided there's no pest, diseases or things like fungus you can definitely use it again! As I mentioned, whatever plants you're growing will take nutrients from the compost during the growing season so make sure you add some organic matter into the soil before you plant 🍀
