You forgit to pre fill the filter cavity with oil before installing the filter and cover.

I just received a brand new 2023 SX-F 350 yesterday. In the manual regarding reinstalling the new filter, it says to lay the bike on it's side, fill the oil filter hole 1/3rd and then fill the oil filter itself with oil prior to installing. I notice nearly nobody does this, they just take the old oil filter out, clean the area and put a new DRY (no oil in center) filter in. Guess we can just skip those steps HUH?

No I wouldn't! Put oil inside of filter almost to the top. Snap it in, cap it with the two screws. Done. Same goes for trucks, cars oil filters. Fill em up. Screw em in. Done.

When you remove the oil screen you may be sending metal shavings onto the plastic oil pump and it can jam. A popular ktm problem. Do not touch the oil screen!

Explain this. Pull the screen out. But don't put it in pan with the oil? Im getting the 4stroke new. So thats something I want to know. What spray are you using to clean the screen with. Brake cleaner?

Did anyone else get a twinge reaction every time he put his oily hands on the seat? Also, no need to be putting oily-glove hands on the spanners and torque wrench. Step 1, loosen all the bolts; Step 2 use gloves to do the messy removal part by hand; Step 3 re-install bolts by hand after cleaning the screen and magnetic bolt; Step 4 snug the bolts up tight with spanners (without gloves). Top tip - put a small amount of oil into the central tube of the new oil filter, to fill it up, right before installation.

Not trying to be one of those negative keyboard warriors I'm just genuinely asking, does that fancy digital torque wrench have a setting to adjust for the massive extension your using?? I was always under the understanding that it significantly changes the torque when you add a big extension like that? Thanks in advance Sean

At my job we only have to adjust torque if you’re using an adapter that extends the torque wrenches length , if you have say a dogbone as long as you keep it 90 degrees offset from the wrench then it’s fine but if you go 45 degrees ect you have to do a calculation

Don’t put the drain plugs in before you remove the filter. Also just wipe the drain plug, no use to waist cleaner when a 1/2 a paper towel does the job. Before you pull the screen drain the oil so you don’t get leftover bs in the bottom of the oil .

I recently bought a new ktm rode it a lil did a few oil changes n said frig it lol 23.99 for qt of oil plus that whole side mount drain etc sold the bike lol ktm is too extra for me 🤣 not my style

Maybe start the bike up to warm up the oil first? What part number is the oil filter? What weight oil is recommended? You mean 8MM, 13MM size sockets, not just an 8 and a 13. Also what size torx? Not a good instructional at all. You gotta do better KTM and Swapmoto Live!
