@@thomasdumont3826 Not sure what this has to do with the defense comparison I was making. But hey you go to town there bud. Nash would easily have won a chip with this Golden State team, but that's none of my business. Curry is disgustingly overrated cause he shoots the ball better than anyone ever. Guy missed 2 wide open layups in the final minutes of a playoff game against Houston, Nash never would have done that. But again, none of my business.

Agreed. Steph is a good defender. He's just the smallest of the starters, teams want to tire him out so he's tired on offense, and he plays with great defensive players in Draymond, Klay, Iggy, and a very good defensive player with length in KD. That's why he's picked on. If fact compare him defensively with the backcourt he just faced in Dame and CJ, and it's not even close.

There are so many bad points in this video by pretty much everyone Chris Carter said Kd would drop 60 if he ran off screens like Steph does? Bro that’s a skill in itself. Conditioning, core strength, mental toughness, trusting your teammates to get you the ball, being ok not getting the ball after running that much. KD doesn’t have the mindset or skill set to do that. He also doesn’t have the type of shot to come of screens and immediately go up, his left shoulder is cocked back he would take a dribble pretty much every time just to get squared. His skill set wouldn’t allow him to do that. So no he wouldn’t drop 60 and his percentages would almost certainly drop. Guest said count both ends of the floor, which is true. But offense is more valuable in basketball than defense. Basketball is one of few sports where great offense beats great defense. Someone your not guarding taking a 3 and your obviously not contesting, there’s no value in that. The only defensive value comes when your guarding the ball, a moving/cutting player or the main guy. LeBron NEVER guarded he main guy ever. Also team defense is decidedly more important than individual defense and Steph is a really good team defender. Steph is hands down the greatest offensive player ever. His true shooting % are ridiculous he’s the only guard in the top 5 in all time true shooting % and he ranks 4th. The only player that could compare is Shaq and he just can’t compare to what Steph does offensively. Not sayin he’s the most skilled offensive player ever even though he’s in that conversation. It’s the style of which he plays that makes him so special. Dont @ me

Yea... your points are all very valid!!! Lebron tried guarding Steph, and he was made to dance the cumba dance by Steph on all the times he tried, making Steph either drive easily to the rim or hit his 3 point shots. Lebron couldn't stop Curry anytime he tried... This same Curry whose defensive ability is talked down on, stoped Lebron anytime Lebron picked on him in the 2018 finals. Curry also limits James Harden plays. I dont know why these analyst would see this and still say Curry cant defend? Is it until he defends a big like Adams before they recognise his defensive ability? Offcourse his size wont allow him to do that just as the size of Adams will not allow him to guard against Steph from the perimeter... Basketball has its different facet with players built to function in those facets in different ways. So I dont know the basis on which these analyst rely on to say Steph is not good defensively... Their basis of judgement is just skewed to make Steph look rediculous... No one player has the impact steph has on the floor. He is the only player that can beat you and where he is trapped, he sets up easy plays for his team mates. Him being on the floor creates a multiples of plays on which Warriors could beat other teams. He is the most dynamic player and he makes Warriors offence dynamic, sophisticated and very difficult to predict... No other player or team has such ability!!! These are testament to the greatness of Steph. Steph has by his size singlehandedly revolutuonise the way NBA is played and the way basketball is played world-over... Not even Lebron or MJ achieved this hight... Steph Curry is the greatest player of all time...

Steph doesn't even bring the ball up most the time lol. It's Draymond. KD wouldn't get away with those screens being run with him because he is so tall and long and no where near as fast as Steph. Defenders lose track of Steph and can't keep up with him squeezing in between players. CC is wrong about that because Golden Stat would be no where as efficient if they did that for KD and it shows when they do run the offense through him. He doesn't have the range consistently from deep that makes Steph the threat he is.

W. For me offense is equally as important as defense. It all relates back to the impact. Curry is the best offensive player in history, I agree, and PIPM potrays him having a top 5 peak in NBA history. Curry’s defense is a slight positive. In essence, Curry’s total impact, Ill argue is better than peak Bird, MJ, LeBron, and Magic, so he is a better player than all of those at their best. The only player who arguably had a better impact than Curry is Bill Russell.

@Tod Wilkinson There is a flaw in your argument. "Durant can be left open to shoot sometimes" My assumption is that you looked up KD's "Open shot percentages" and said Wow thats no where near Steph's! But its not taking into account a few different parts of information, Steph runs off multiple screens *deliberately to get wide open shots* while KD tends to just post up or iso. Especially in playoff basketball it takes a lot of effort to get those kind of looks, *Why do you think the Warriors would post up KD and Iso KD so often when they could just run around screens all game?* Casuals might say "To keep KD's ego sated" Like he is Westbrook or something lol in reality, Its because *they wanted to save energy.* If KD is there you can be like "Alright just give him the ball he will get us a bucket by just shooting over who is in front of him." Plus wide open shots aren't what win Playoffs, its defense and execution and while I am not trying to argue Steph hasn't been executing, I just think using "Open shot percentage" as your main argument doesn't hold much weight. I mean this isn't NBA2K. If you want to argue Steph is more valuable to the Warriors because of how he plays and his gravity thats one things, but saying Steph is better than a KD in a vacuum because his "open shot percentage is better" sounds like something that someone who enjoys watching ball and looking up stats more than actually playing it.
@moneytrees9634
@moneytrees9634 5 жыл бұрын
ImAviex Curry ability to run off screens is a skill itself tho. KD doesn’t have the stamina to get grabbed the way Steph does and still run around like Steph does. He doesn’t have the core strength Steph has or the balance Steph does. His release isn’t as fast as Stephs and his shoulders aren’t square like Stephs on his jump shot. He would take a dribble a large percentage of the time coming off the screen, just because he would have to in order to be squared (for him). Would he trust his teammates to get him the ball? Would he be ok not getting the ball after running around like crazy for 20 seconds? That’s a skill set there’s only a few in NBA history who are like that (Reggie Miller, Ray Allen) but Steph has taken it to a completely new level. KD doesn’t generate gravity, steph has the highest graded gravity ever. Steph draws double teams coming off screens generating a wide open layup for the screener, instead of having a big matched against Steph on the perimeter teams trap and play 3 on 4, Steph is more efficient, Steph is a better leader, Steph was able to win on his own and even beat KD h2h. Steph has the only unanimous MVP in league history.

Reason cited Curry isn't in the conversation is "choking in the finals." Lebron did it in 2011, and yet it is glossed over. Giannis, AD, Harden, etc. haven't played in Finals. I disqualify them. That leaves Lebron, KD, and Steph. Lebron is phenonomal, but he is now finally a defensive liability and doesn't impact the game as much on offense as steph. KD does have all the requisite skills and physique, but the ball stops moving in the playoffs with him on the court. Steph is my best player. His defense is underrated. In all of the finals combined, Lebron averaged less than 20% from field with Steph on him. Anyone who thinks steph is a liability on defense has been listening to pundits who don't know basketball. How do you quantify BEST PLAYER? You say Lebron, Kawhi, Giannis, KD are all in the conversation. Well, there's one common in them. They have the size. Now, how about their impact on the game? Curry has been in the 5 straight Finals for crying out loud. He has 2x MVP, 1 unanimous MVP, and 3 rings. Makes his teammates play better with his gravity, spacing and playmaking abilities. His only loophole is that opponents are picking him because of his defense. Well, because he's the smallest in their lineup. But it doesn't diminish the impact that he's making. Go out and see high school boys hooping -- who are they trying to imitate? Yep.

Man stop it Steph’s defense is super underrated. He can guard but the refs don’t let him so he gets reluctant at times, they are actually bias. He gets pulled , pushed, triple teamed, undercut when he shoots, grabbed , etc.. but he put his hands slightly on an offensive player they call a foul to get him out the game or out his rhythm. However, when the occasions rises he’s still there doing his best to stay in front of the offensive player. He’s a jewel that blind people walk away from to get polished copper 😴

Goat Herder so only NBA players who won championships can be analysts? So Jalen Rose shouldn’t be an analyst then? I guess TMac should be out of a job too by that logic. What about players who have rings but were role players at best or rode the bench the entire way? Come on man I see your point about NBA players understanding what it takes to win more a championship more so than guys who didn’t play, but you’re narrowing the field down to the point where several NBA legends (like Barkley) cannot be analysts. Let’s focus on the accuracy of the analysis instead of the person who’s providing it.

No other PG is in the best conversation except him . It's true he can't really guard a lot of people one on one , not that he doesn't try but he just doesn't have the size and the body to stay on people like kahwi ,Klay , iggy or PG13. I haven't seen players stop him either . Lebron is great and so is KD and kahwi , Those are the only 3 players imo that are ahead of him but "he's the best under the rim player in this era "shaq .

Ankle injuries affect shooting and side movements so much. I look at it like this. Those years that KD have been with the Warriors.
