This song was a number-one hit on the R&B charts for a long time. She has several other songs that match our time and era. I saw her in the early 90s revival of The Wiz in Chicago after having left the show 15+ years before. It was unreal, especially Be A Lion. For the record, Stephanie is a legendary r&b vocalist. Just peruse her catalog.

This was always Stephanie’s song! She sang it originally on broadway in the play THE Wiz before her first solo album came out. This was sang in the original wizard of oz but THIS is the standard ans the most respected. No one sings this song like .stephanie. Stephanie came out before Whitney. Yess baby Stephanie is no joke, she actually originated the role of Dorothy in The wiz back in 1975 on Broadway and “Home” was written by Charlie Smalls for her too sing. Anybody else who sung it is forever in her footsteps. She is a legend and when I say you have to get into the catalog because she is a SANGER, and yes she’s is a live performer, she’s Broadway trained (8 shows a week) so yes that voice outdoes the record.
