So here we are! Let's answer those questions together.

For the person who had trouble keeping the rolled hem a consistent width - Ms Rubletz showed how to prevent it from getting progressively smaller, but if the hem gets progressively BIGGER, the woman at the "Bridal Sewing" channel said to keep some tension behind the foot and very light tension as you feed the fabric through the foot from the front, all as Ms Rubletz showed. _But ALSO keep tension pulling away at the LEFT SIDE of the foot. That prevents the hem from getting progressively wider._ It works very well to aide in consistency. All the best.

This is the only instruction on making corners with a rolled hem foot that is functional! This was very helpful. I am making napkins and won't be making a living with them but they will be fine for my own use! Thank you!

dear gods you saved me. from the "roll, hand press and just sew down the first cm or so" to "nope - just don't try to turn corners" this video was so helpful and validating!

I did a rolled baby hem on bubble crepe. The first sleeve wasn’t great, the second was better and the hem really turned out! I didn’t know if it would do a seam at all, so I undid the seams then sewed them after. Not super professional, but I figure no one will notice! I will try to do it better now that I e watched this video! I would love to know how to do one by hand as I do like hand stitching! Thanks for everything! I subscribed.🥰

Glad your back! Any tips on feeding the roll of fabric into the foot on a curved piece of fabric?
@StephanieRubletz
@StephanieRubletz Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Honestly the best thing I can say is go slow and if you can, try to pull the curved fabric so it's going into the machine straight. This is more difficult on tighter circles but doable on big curves. It will end up sort of puckering around the presser foot. But as long as the fabric is flat under the foot, You're fine.

Wonderful video! This is helping me so much!! I do have a question about the side seams, if you serge your side seams can you still use the rolled hem foot? Or is it too bulky at that point? I have a project coming up that I'm hoping to use both the serger for the side seams and then used the rolled hem foot for the hem, but I wasn't sure if they would play nice together or just become a bunched up mess?
@StephanieRubletz
@StephanieRubletz 3 ай бұрын
That's a good question. To be honest I've never tried. But at the beginning you'd start by hand rolling and stitching the first bit anyways so that end would be fine for sure. I guess it would depend too on how small of a roll you use. Sorry I can't be more help

If you get a wavy hem, would it help to use a longer stitch? How do you deal with a serged seam?

I started by saying, "#### you, rolled hem, I'm not afraid of you." Then I started just sewing. I rolled with it. Here I am, it's not perfect, but I rolled it. Boom.

What is the name of the adapter to use newer rolled hem feet for older machines? Is it specific to each machine?

I always sit a a very weird angle using this foot and that the only way to feed the fabric through is to virtually pull the fabric up to the left at a right angle. Very odd and frustrating because I have to do it slow. Bx

Hi Stephanie! Great video! Please could you tell me what the red plastic square thing is called that you showed briefly, you said some use it to sew denim? I have needed one for a while but no idea of what to search for ❤️ Thank you x

Stephanie, I’m trying to hem roll a light weight knit. The problem is that the fabric is getting caught in the feed (bottom plate), such that the fabric bunches and won’t move. Do you have any recommendations to prevent this?
@StephanieRubletz
@StephanieRubletz 23 күн бұрын
Ooh, I hate to say it friend but you picked about the hardest thing to roll. You could try to stabilize it with starch and lighten the pressure on the foot. But that's just a best guess. Whenever I hem a knit I either use my serger or I manually fold my hem back and go over it with a double needle and a straight stitch.

Yes, quite difficult! I’m going to try a little trick I learned way back in school, to sew with a piece of tissue paper underneath 🤞. Thanks for your reply!

Brilliant rolled hem foot tutorial. Re the person who asked if there was a way to do a rolled hem without a rolled hem foot. There is a tutorial by "Made to Sew", it is not as fast as a rolled hem foot, but lessens the need for pins. Not really sure of the etiquette of sharing videos from another channel, so apologies if this is a heinous crime, this is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4bOdGernJitiqM
