I miss the days when not everything had a message. I grew up in Algeria during the ’90s, and we consumed a lot of U.S. TV. The funny thing is, those shows helped us become colorblind. Algeria is a large country, and we do have Black people in the south, but due to the vast distances and the fact that I lived in a small town, I never met a Black person until I moved to college. We had some diversity in our own shows but We grew up watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Pimp My Ride (my granddad loved Xzibit and Mad Mike), as well as shows like Snow White, 7th Heaven, and Step by Step. We never gave a second thought to the actors’ skin color.

Rachel doesn't realize the gravity of the role, and is downright the opposite of it. Also, she needs to learn the difference between cartoons and America's first fully animated feature. The original Snow White helped keep Dina Babbitt going during the holocaust, and it saved her life. She painted a mural to cheer up the children. That joy was the last joy they had before being murdered. That Snow White mural saved herself and her mother. She got a job painting portraits of people for the historic man now referred to as "The Angel of Death." She took her time on the portraits to keep the victims alive longer. Her portraits are still at the holocaust museum-despite the fact that it was her dying wish to have them back. Everyone says that Walt Disney was anti-Semitic, but the Jewish Joe Grant (the designer of the queen and the hag-more widely known for pushing for Crikee to be in Mulan) nipped that in the bud. Snow White was loving and kind; Rachel is a monstrous cyber bully. Snow White won honorary Oscars. It was the very beginning of animation being seen as an art. And every time this little actress calls it a cartoon, she is undermining that. Snow White earned her keep. This Snow White doesn't clean. This Snow White had better be working in the mines!

Some classics just cannot be improved upon. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was one of those. We can't even do the amazing animation they did by hand, frame by frame then. Computers just can't do it like that. The original West Side Story can't be improved upon, Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet can't be improved upon. @@cheekyjonez3916 Arthur Laurents wanted to make a play about Romeo and Juliet but wanted to make it tell the same problem in a current civilization with current people. He didn't just make another Romeo and Juliet and use Puerto Ricans and European immigrants in place of the Italians. He started fresh and wrote a play about the gangs of New York who were those new immigrants who had the same problems as the Italians of yore. It was amazing. The vast majority of the viewers had no idea it was a retelling of an old story. That is how you remake a story. Not just make a race and sex change and make 'em gay. Hollywood has just lost the ability to create.
