Agree with Max. I love MJ. I grew up in Chicago, and watched him do amazing things. BUT, George Foreman was retired for over a decade.....and won the heavyweight title in his 40’s. It was a special moment. Foreman was laying traps the entire fight, throwing off-speed punches, and then back to back 1-2’s knocked out Moorer. George was a ferocious puncher, always. Holyfield went back to his corner during their fight and asked, “Are my teeth still there? I can’t feel my entire face.” George also reinvented his boxing defense. Ali called George “The Mummy”, because he defended by sticking his hands out front and catching punches. Ali was too quick though. George returned using a cross-guard. Completely different, and then changed his defense as needed during fights. MJ’s return was at his PEAK, and he had a top 50 all-time NBA next to him. The Foreman story, from losing the biggest fight ever, to becoming depressed and vanishing from the world, finding god, and returning a better man. Its a great story.

Michael’s comeback was similar to Ali. Were the best before they left and lost a step when they returned but they still managed to dominate. George Foreman’s return would be like Shaq coming out of retirement and winning Finals MVP

Curry is 0-8 with go ahead shots in the playoffs, so it’s a reasonable take from his perspective. Curry performs better overall and is consistently a better shooter, but the question was who do you want taking the last shot.
@Bruh-gs9ky
@Bruh-gs9ky 3 жыл бұрын
@@stopplzs stephen curry will never ever get an open shot even if kd and klay is on the team in the final seconds. No one is guarding iggy because of steph's gravity. in a way he made that shot attempt by iggy wayyy more open. I mean even iggy agrees with it.
@stopplzs
@stopplzs 3 жыл бұрын
@@Bruh-gs9ky yeah that’s a fair point. But not all 8 are excusable. He had a silly travel against Portland, and the 3 against the raptors was a good enough look by his standards. I don’t remember all of Iggy’s clutch shots, but he did hit a pretty contested mid range against the magic in 2009. I think Max’s point was that curry isn’t clutch in certain situations, but if it’s open I definitely want curry taking it

MJ came back to Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Phil Jackson. And they were still good. Foreman was 40 plus fighting Tommy Morrison, Evander Holyfield, Gerry Cooney etc. Dangerous fighters in his way after becoming depressed and turning his life around, coming back to boxing as a whole new man, reinvented himself, and beat a young heavyweight champion named Michael Moorer (26) who was being coached by Teddy Atlas at the time. Nobody thought Foreman would be a heavyweight champion of the world again at age 45. But the dream happened...

Retired for 20 years doing nothing then coming back and winning the championship right after is better than retiring for 2 years to still play an athletic TEAM sport (baseball) then coming back to play another athletic TEAM sport to win 3 chips.

George Foreman was out of his sport for 10 years. Michael Jordan was still in his prime. Some say 2nd threepeat MJ was the best version of him. He was more muscular, smarter, and his mid-range fadeaway was perfected.

SAS doesn't understand how insane it is to even imagine going through Foreman's boxing life and career. To go the distance against Holyfield in his prime when he was in his 40's and then to challenge Moore and KO him in the 10th, THEN to go on and capture the other belts in the heavyweight division and even defend them all once before losing a majority decision to Shannon Briggs and retiring. George Foreman is an absolute LEGEND.
