America First Productions no wonder it was a first round exit. They also had iggy and them boys, had a better team than when Melo was there. Had the nuggets had that 2013 team with Melo, that would’ve been a finals appearance for melo
@realniggashit34 жыл бұрын
@@prophetfromthex Doubt it. West was stacked. Melo and Billups would've also lost in the 1st or 2nd round if they didn't get lucky with seeding. They had the 2nd seed despite the same record as Spurs and Blazers and only 1 more win than 5th seed Rockets. And then Mavs did them a favor by upsetting Spurs in the 1st round. Spurs would've been a matchup nightmare for Denver. Denver was never a legit championship contender at any point.
@prophetfromthex4 жыл бұрын
America First Productions May be true but Melo never had true help. Bron did Bron things in the east. Went to LA which was a decent team and couldn’t make the playoffs. Yes injuries were a factor but the year after gets AD and help. Melo stood in NY and the best he got was JR. Melo needed another guy in 2013. They beat Miami 3-1 in the regular season. Had it not been for Tyson being injured, they would’ve beaten Indiana. A lot of should’ve could’ve would’ve but one thing for certain is Melo being a leader. Just needed another star to mesh with him. Amare wasn’t it, and the A.I/ Melo duo was short lived...

'04 Pistons won in his rookie year, so that's one automatically. '05 they went 7 with SA in a very low scoring series that could have gone either way. Melo definitely could have made the difference in that one. '06 lost to Miami, again needed some scoring punch. '07 lost Ben Wallace, so it's doubtful they would have beaten SA without him. By '08 they were finished. So one for sure, two very strong possibility and maybe three, but also Larry Brown left after '05.

I agree with Max lowkey.. To put Melo on that team you have to remove somebody.. that makes that squad weaker 💯 this ain’t nba2K this real life.. just inserting good players don’t make you a guaranteed championship team
@tnc76854 жыл бұрын
People making it seem SO OBVIOUS that Melo would win a chip is just pointing out the obvious that Melo is better than Darko, if we just think this way there is no need for a discussion. Max was actually going deeper and considering more factors whether you ultimately agree or not.
@Stunt8774 жыл бұрын
Melo gves the piston more scoring even if the pistons already have defense they still need scoring melo would have made them a dynasty. And the pistons would have made melo a greater player

Max is breaking my heart with his argument... Melo could have been a two way player if was drafted by Detroit... imagine pistons are always in the Finals (04 & 05) and ECF (06,07 & 08)... and they still will not win with Melo? 🤦♂️
@derekllp234 жыл бұрын
The question is, did Melo have the mindset to be a two-way player? Most guys who have that defensive mentality don't have to be taught it at the pro level. They just have that dog in them to be a defender. We can't assume he'd just develop that because he'd be on the Pistons.

@kiyan west : No need to, I'm old enough to have watched that series when it was actually going on. I'm 49 years old. Melo was not going to be a good fit w/ that Pistons team. That Pistons core group was a very close & special group. What many of you seem to forget is that "w/ the exception of Tysuan Prince", each one of them had either failed on other NBA teams, or had worn our their welcome. They came together & proved everyone wrong.. Melo was coming off an NCAA Championship, felt he should've been # 1 & had a huge ego (understandably so).. That team moved the ball very well & played for each other. The ball stops w/ Melo
@Antygrvity694 жыл бұрын
@kiyan west: By the way Kobe averaged 34pts / 5rbs/ & 5.8 assists in that playoff series against the Nuggets, & the Lakers beat them 4 games to 2. Maybe I'm missing something. So Please explain to me how Carmelo Anthony shut Kobe down?

@@Isthatthegrimreaper170yeah they lost to the spurs the next year i get that. Spurs were VERY solid. But they had absolutely no business losing to the heat in '06 in 6, or the Cavs in the '07 also in 6 both in the ECF

Reginald Hill they were one of the best defensive teams in the league that year, that helps. that kind of roster set up is the only way I see a team making the finals if their star player is primarily just a scorer like melo/AI
