I think he was so embarrased at how his Philly tenure ended that he just lost the passion for basketball. Cant imagine how anyone would feel to receive the amount of hate he received because he had mental health challenges and a significant back injury. He hasn't lost the his passion for hooping. He spent Feb through to Oct working 6+ hours a day to recover. That's a huge commitment because he loves to hoop. If he wasn't working hard on rehab it would be a breach of his contract. I do think he lost his passion for bball and is only sticking around for the check. So I agree with you there. I also do think he has an anxiety problem though. As someone who has it, I can tell. If he could devote himself to the game and get out of his own head, he could be the best player in the league. That’s why it’s sad and frustrating seeing things play out this way. We saw it happen right in front of our eyes. Ben developed a phobia about shooting the basketball during NBA games. This phobia cost his team a real chance at an NBA Finals appearance. The World came down on him, and suddenly, he started having physical illnesses severe enough to prevent him from playing NBA basketball.

Regardless of what happens, Ben is gonna force the NBA to change how these contracts are handled. Ben is going to get out of this contract and retire a multi-millionaire early in his career, without having to play much to earn it in these past few years. I can’t judge him, but I can’t see teams trying to sign him again if he’s literally unavailable.

People would stop talking if they felt like there was a genuine effort by Ben to get back on the court. Im sure he does have a bad back, but sometimes you have to play through pain. Seems like the first sign of any pain or discomfort for him and he's out for months. Doesn't seem like he does everything possible to get back out there. If he can't play at all they should get rid of him
