Good regular season games but is averaging 23 PPG since being with the clips and has missed 1/3 of the games in the past 4 years. If I’m the owner you are not getting the max and I’m tossing a trade kicker in. PG will eventually fade to black on another team as the younger players in the league step into their prime. The tough fadeaways, Euro step and long extended steps to get to the backboard / FT line is starting to look very predictable now that his athleticism has waned a bit. Something WOJ said there that I am not sure I agree with. He said to win in this new CBA you have to take less... I am not sure i agree. The new CBA does a couple of things 1) You pay insane real money if you are in the luxury tax repeatedly 2) You get your first round pick demoted to the last pick in the first round even if your team was awful 3) You can not use a mid level exemption. For a team like the clippers who has Harden, PG, Kawhii, Zubac, Russ, Norman Powell Plumlee Bones Hyland, Coffey etc right you have a deep enough team that you probably wont have to use the mid level at all. You have a rich enough owner that the money part does not matter and you don't have any of your own first round picks anyways. They can essentially just blow past the salary cap and ignore the new CBA if they wanted to. Now they are old and injury prone so probably wouldnt but I say that to say imagine Balmer owned the Thunder with all those picks coming up in the future and some legit talent on the roster right now. They in theory could go out and trade for 2 max players now and still resign all their rookies when the contracts come do and not have a care in the world about the mid level exemption or the money ramifications. And since they have a ton of other teams number 1's they wont even worry about the pick being terrible

These max players have made 100s of mill through out there career, if they can't or is not savvy enough to invest that and grow that money, then getting another max deal will clearly do nothing for them. Give me 100 mill to play a sport, take taxes and manager fees and leave me with 45 mill and i promise you i am flipping that to over 100 mill in 5 years and doubling or tripling it in another 5-7 and depending on the market since we have had the longest bull run in human history, i can get to 500 mill in a decade.
