Some guys don't even have Kobe in they top 10, from numerous comments I've seen over the last few years, which is interesting. I think LeBron HAS TO win a ring in LA to solidify that top 3. Mizt3r E True. But he did bring up excellent points that I’ve never truly considered in these debates. LeBron has not been a team anchor. The Cavs were not winning a ring with him there. So he left. Went to play with another Superstar, and All Star... and then needed ANOTHER HOF talent (Ray Allen) on that squad. Then when that well dried up as opposed to building up an organization, he dipped out again, had an impressive win down 3-1 for sure with the Cavs, but then when that situation dried up he left again to team up with another top 5 NBA player in Anthony Davis. He never built a situation. Teams had to go all in and ruin future seasons cap/contract wise.... and when they were ruined, he left. Sure it’s emotional to not have LBJ in the top 5 (at least), but those organizational points of not building up a program by virtue of his ability doesn’t taint his resume enough IMO. How many rings does he have if he plays for just 1 or 2 teams through his career? Could he build the Heat back into a contender if he stayed? Can a cap locked Cavs figure out a way. He never stuck around for the low points because he just wanted to ring chase so people could acknowledge his accomplishments. He was never both an anchor and catalyst of team greatness, he was only ever a catalyst. Most of these other players in the top 5 were both an anchor and catalyst. They didn’t have the same amount of empty calories as LeBron and so I can’t fault Pierce for not including LBJ in his top 5 even if it ISN’T emotional because you could make the argument that dominance =/= greatness, else Shaq would be top 3 on everyone’s list. JMO though.
