@samhwwg11 ай бұрын
I would argue that the need for salvation is almost an inherent desire in any person, save the rich and noble of the time. Most people don’t find life that enjoyable and fun, they need to make sense of the suffering, and so the church, whether you find it convincing or not is entirely up to you, declares that the root of pain is sin, and the solution to sin is the Saviour. That doesn’t really feel off, what feels off is that a supposed “spiritual” teaching turns into an actual worldly power and a rich, transnational cooperation. That’s what’s so weird. One may be lead to think that many of the higher ups aren’t exactly believing in what they themselves preach.
@PocketMarmo0411 ай бұрын
You could easily make the argument that a rich trans national organization is needed precisely for this purpose. The light bill does not get paid by itself.

Your info is wrong. Christ did not found the Holy *Roman* Church. That would be Peter with Jesus as the foundation on which the *Roman* is built. Jesus did found the holy catholic church but Rome is Peter’s ball of wax.

@@fsinjin60 there is a clear succession from Jesus to the spreading of his church, it’s establishment as a formal structure and it’s base in Rome. The authority for the ongoing formalisation of the original experiences, beliefs and traditions come straight from Jesus command in Matthew 16:18 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." The progressive complexity of the articles of faith are simply expositions on the original teachings and greater understandings of what was meant in scriptures and the traditions of the apostles and early church
