This is propaganda or at the very least a very partial view promoted by a gay man, I expected better from Fry. I'm not an advocate of conversion therapy but if people want to try it why is it any of Fry's business, as long as there is no coersion or adverse effects people can do what they want. These days we have 200 lb + men wanting to become women which is an infinitely more complex thing to do.

His face was smooth, tan, well-scrubbed and moisturized; his eyes were an intense blue that matched the pastel color of his polo shirt. He was wearing crisp chino pants and polished brown loafers. I offered my hand and gave him a smile. Tom returned my greeting with a quick, forceful handshake, then dropped his lanky frame into the tapestry-print chair toward which I had motioned him.' This is complete bullshit. The amount of straight people raised by single moms is the same as the amount of straight people raised by couples. Likewise, as many gay people emerge from two-parent families as they do from single-parent families. Finally, there’s no statistical difference in the amount of gay people raised by gay couples vs straight couples, whereas by your logic, in the supposed absence of any ‘masculinity’ in gay couples, their children should ´become’ gay too, which is absolutely not the case. Last but not least, in animal species with two distinct genders (which is not always the case) that are not bisexual (like dolphins), the percentage of gay animals remains stable across generations, much like in humans. Given the most different parenting setups there exist in nature (two parents, one parent only, almost no parenting at all, the whole pack is parenting, etc.), for sure this has nothing to do with examples of ´masculinity’.
@Limemill3 жыл бұрын
@cat man do Why the hell would you need a source for something that is true unless proven otherwise? Give me your sources to the contrary coming from respectable peer-reviewed journals and not the Christian Science Monitor. By proxy, if you compare, say, the black and white populations in the US, the former are twice as often raised by single mothers, but the amount of non-straight blacks is roughly the same as that of whites (give or take, depending on the poll it's either the same, slightly lower or higher by one percent point; never will you see anything close to a two-fold difference).

@cat man do I *have* been talking about prorated figures, obviously, not the absolute numbers, hence percentages being mentioned and not people. Cool, if you're saying this is well established send my way: 1) Say, a couple dozen of studies in renown peer-reviewed journals by recognized researchers in the field and a few meta analyses of the totality of peer-reviewed evidence demonstrating a clear correlation between single-family parenting and prevalence of gay children (there cannot be any causation established since there's no clear-cut consensus on mechanisms affecting sexuality); 2) Data of similar provenance showing that, in relative terms, black people have as many more gay people among them as there are more single-family households as compared to whites

You don't "become straight" by any experiences lol stop being dumb and pretending it's the same thing as becoming gay through experiences. One becomes gay over time and can happen unbeknownst to anyone in the family because things that might not seem traumatic to others can be very real to some boys who can be born more sensitive temperamentally. It is a combination of temperament as well as shame moments having to do with ones sense of masculinity. To be gay is the antithesis of masculinity lol... the entire psychological process behind gay thoughts/feelings are nothing more than an attempt at reaching healthy emotional male acceptance and affirmation. Masculinity is not the same thing as macho or acting like a "bro".. lol if you're engaging in gay sex, you're trying, in a maladaptive way to repair your lack of sense of masculinity.

Ryan Wilkinson Something I'd like answering is, let's say somebody went for therapy, managed to stop fornicating with same sex partners, but still has the "urge" to, does that mean they are still gay ? If you say yes, then how do you explain recovering drug addicts? Recovering addicts will, for a long time, if not always, have the "urge" to do drugs, but they fight it. So you are saying an alcoholic, who hasn't had a drink in 5 years is still an alcoholic because they have fairly regular urges to have a drink ? Russel Brand admits he'd be high all the time, but it makes him a worse person, is he still a heroin addict? Non sense. Like with anything, if you create a pleasure pathway in your brain, it is incredibly difficult to shut that pathway down (9 years they say). This is why I hold the point: the only evil thing to do is tell a person they can't change, not to help them to change.

I like the subtle experiment he runs by telling the guy he could pass as a gay man. Anyone sensible knows that 'metrosexuality' isn't a sexuality at all, just a fad, pure nonsense based on gross stereotype. And would duly laugh it off, or give an "are you serious right now?" squint, or something along those lines. But this guy took it as an ultra-serious personal insult, and gave Stephen basically a death stare. I'm not even going to go into what I think about his method of encouraging his clients to lust after children rather than adults. For that alone this 'therapist' should be put to a firing squad.
@Dom200020074 жыл бұрын
It is not an experiment. It's a stupid stunt done for the cameras in order to discredit his ideas. Notice there was no opposition in terms of facts? His reaction was a clear edit which may not have even been to that statement from Fry. Notice they do not include his verbal response.
@Torthrodhel4 жыл бұрын
@@Dom20002007 you say "discredit his ideas" as if his ideas require any discrediting. So call it whichever word you like (stunt or experiment, meaning basically the same thing just in a different tone). Allow me to repeat. The guy, under the guise of therapy, encouraged his clients to lust after children rather than adults. ^ is that alone not enough? Seriously? Lemme just answer my own question... it is. It is enough. There shouldn't even be a question over the validity of his "ideas" after that. What are you on? He's running a torture factory for people he has a prejudice against, there's nothing more to it than that. And if you require icing on the cake, then the fact that he wouldn't subject his own kid to it is a fifth nail in the four-nail coffin. Given all that, Fry could be dressed as a clown, jumping up and down and shouting "boo hiss" for 50 minutes and the result would be the same. Really doesn't matter. I was just appreciating that he teased an extra bit of bullshit out of the clear and obvious pile of bullshit, that's all. Was a neat trick, fun to pick up on.
@Dom200020074 жыл бұрын
I am just calling out dishonest and poor editing by Fry and his team. You seem quite emotionally invested in this topic. Where have you got the idea that he gets men to think sexually about children? I'd like the reference for that. Certainly none of his lectures on KZbin advocate that. They all talk about addressing the underlying trauma. Again I haven't heard that about his child but ultimately his therapy would not work unless his child was willing. Your rather potent emotional reaction is why there is little science in this area which is to the detriment of homosexuals that are not comfortable with their sexuality.
@Torthrodhel4 жыл бұрын
@@Dom20002007 he says so in the video. And, there is little science in the area because it is an 'area' based entirely on a prejudice, and not valid in the first place. If anyone's uncomfortable with their sexuality, then all there is to that is social stigmas, and social prejudice. We don't even need sexuality categories in the first place. What's wrong with just being attracted to whoever you're attracted to, and not being attracted to whoever you're not attracted to? As is the case for literally everyone (nobody's attracted to everybody of any particular gender after all). Who even cares what gender anyone is? Why not just allow people to love who they love and be with who they want? Of course, I speak in terms of not doing harm. If you're attracted to underage people, that's doing harm (insufficient opportunity for personal development before making such decisions). There is no special type of harm done between people according to whether they're the same gender or not. It literally makes no difference at all. It's like you're saying the reason there isn't enough research into flat earth, phrenology or lizardman aliens is the emotional reaction of people like me. It's nonsense made to satisfy people scrambling for comforting beliefs in a messed up world, taken advantage of by those who want to prey on and increase prejudices. People like him. And once again, you have no reasoning to waive away his decision that his own child is too good for the emotional torture he subjects other peoples' children to. If there is nothing else so revealing, it's that.

@Chad K Yes, "Made in God's image" isn't actually a good argument to justify your morality because if everyone is made in God's image, using this argument means twisting the idea of God to your ideal version of humanity. That's the point, it doesn't work. You need to pick your morality through your philosophy and not your bible because the modern understanding of the bible is inherently twisted to fit with our modern framework, and because the modern version of the bible is itself an amalgamation of stories edited by the agendas of kings, truncated, and replaced. God is gay, straight, bisexual, a pedophile, sex-aversed, paraphiliac, genderless, a man, or indescribable as an entity. The idea is so non-specific and incomprehensible that besides the 10 commandments, it's a game of "pick which popular sect fits your prejudices and pre-concieved ideas of morality". You aren't allowed to claim you know what an omniscient, omnipotent, invisible being who speaks to us through feelings and cryptic signs thinks about an issue because you read a broken translation of an incomplete version of an edited book that might've been written mostly by men interpreting God's ideas. We have christains and conservatives trying to start christain sharia. Love how christains who also tend to be republicans literally twist the Bible so much to fit their own personal and political agendas to the point they are going against everything in the Bible. Their religious and political views don’t match up. Like how it’s against their Bible to consume shellfish, but they just twist that around to fit what they want. Like how it’s against heir Bible to judge another persons sins as when they do that they are taking the role of god and acting equal to god and will be punished once for their sins and another for the sins of the person they judged. So basically that means if a christain judged a gay person they themselves will be judged as if they where gay on top of their personal sins. But they twist that so it’s ok for them. I could go on and on and on. Here’s some political hypocrisy’s. Since christain fundamentalists tend to also be extremely conservative, like how they act like they the conservatives/ christains are the minority and are being censored like with free speech online and are the snowflake victims when in reality it’s the polar opposite. Or how they continually give tax cuts to the wealthy, that goes against Jesus as in the Bible the wealthy do not go to heaven unless they give everything of worldly possessions away. It’s easier to put a camel through The eye of a needle rings a bell. They love the constitution and consider themselves constitutionalists YET ONLY when it is in their best interest. They do NOT like it when the constitution goes against their belief system.. Which is super hypocritical. They dislike Muslims because sharia law and act like America is so above that shit yet EVERY chance they get they push for a religion based government. I could go on for ages.

When my highschool girlfriends mom found out we werent just friends she made the girl join a church youth program that included drug addiction treatment/prevention & what they called the romantically confused. (??lol right??) One day she calls me and tells me it was the best thing that happened to her because it showed her who she was. We decided I should go too because if life gives you "you can't see each other anywhere but church" lemons....make out in the parking lot behind a bush.

Nicolosi is a BOSS! I like how he responded to the "gay gene" question.

notice how there isn’t a heterosexual gene either, his arguments are anecdotal and don’t provide any real proof of “curing” homosexuality

@@lucasinthehouse007 You're not even a good liar! Nicholosi passed away in 2017, and he was happily married to a lovely wife and had wonderful children who are continuing his practice. You pro homosexual bigots are so determined to further a perversion comment but you have to lie in order to do so.

A bear is happy being a bear; it is being that all day every day. So are rabbits, birds, fish. But humans are never happy being human, or natural, or a part of the same natural order. Humans like to make there own hypo-human style and tell others it is the way. Because they can't be happy with their happiness by themselves.

I think you can be unhappy being yourself while appreciating your own species. I also think that in a lot of cases, it is a good thing to aspire to be better than your are. But like anything, it should be done with moderation and perspective. There's obviously a lack of perspective, if a homosexual person feels they need to aspire to be straight, as if that would make them better people.
@Lordradost8 жыл бұрын
Tim Teatro That's true. My point was more about how humans always try to imprint their ideology on others for them to be happy. We have this perception of turning tiny details into big differences, then express forms of disgust at that. "We all know better" and don't like deviations or the unknown. "Judge not..." or lack of perspective indeed.

It's really fucked up because the vast majority of those performing this therapy are trained physiologists, they have a PhD in psychology, they have enough knowledge in the field to understand that they are by no means "curing" anything but recoding someone, which inherently derives a perverse conflict of interest where the subject biologically feels attracted to a man but psychologically do not think they should. It's this kind of therapy that leads to depression, suicide, deep emotional trauma because it forces someone to doubt something that comes so naturally to them, what they are sexually attracted towards. It's disgusting because these professionals make a career out of causing such stress in people and effectively ruining their life.

Exactly. His book Shame and Attachment Loss goes into much greater detail. But gay activists and liberals just don't want to admit that homosexuality is born out of trauma.

Nicolosi has been debunked in numerous academic articles published in Journals. There is nothing 'scientific' about his theory which is based on 1900's Freudian junk.

absolutely pitiful - “gay and liberal scientists”, oh like former conversion therapist and EVANGELICAL Christian Professor Warren Throckmorton? That’s so stupid. Christians are turning away from reparative therapy because it causes trauma, depression and suicide. Nice try.
