I watched Steven Jackson most of his career. I didn’t really think he was all that good with the Spurs back in 03 and I thought he was solid in Indiana. I thought he played his best ball with Golden State back when they had there playoff run in 07. I would say overall, at best he was a good player with the willingness and ability to take and make huge shots. No way whatsoever was he a better player than Ray Allen or Ginobli or even as good.
@Israel-nb7ip
@Israel-nb7ip 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I even watched him when he first came into the league with the Nets and I always liked him as a player. He was tough, skilled, and a good defensive player. That said, he's delusional to think he was better than Ray Allen on any level. Ray Allen is a top 10 all time shooting guard. I don't think he was better than Manu either but at least there he can make a reasonable argument because Manu never had his own team so we don't know how good he might have been outside of San Antonio. Vince Carter no way. Stephen Jackson is feeling himself a bit, but hey he's probably earned the right to say what he wants about his own basketball career.

Stephen Jackson's career average ppg is 15.1. He averaged 20+ppg only three seasons in his entire career - 2 at Nellie ball Warriors and 1 at rebuilding Bobcats. While he was an adequate defender, he was never voted in any of All-Defensive team during his career. If Jackson wants others to respect him for what he achieved (being the top-300 baller in the world), then he should have enough self-awareness to admit that he was never EVER close to tying Ray Allen's laces - let alone the man himself.

Stephen Jackson had one significant run as an integral part of the Warriors as an 8th seed who beat a Dirk Nowitki led 1st seed Maverick team in first round of playoffs. Other than that he was an NBA journeyman who was never an all-star. Not even once. A good year was first man off the bench. Delusions of grandeur is a real symptom. Ray Allen on the other hand was always one of the very best players in the league. Multiple champion. A part of big three in Boston. If Steph hadn't come along, Ray would be considered the best shooter ever. Right now he is 2nd best, and holds nearly every long range shooting record.

@@Renegade-jk4ux Jackson was a really good player. I just dont like how he has been presenting himself as if he was this 'unlucky' player who could have been legendary. For great players, opponents usually prepare hard like 'oh i am gonna play against Kobe, Ray Allen, Vince, Tmac, etc, i gotta be on my A game". I highly doubt anyone has ever said that about him. I also went on to check these comparisons on basketball reference. Vince Carter's nets played against Jackson's Pacers in the 2006 playoofs. Vince demolished him by averaging about 30 points with 47% fg while Jackson averaged 13 points shooting 36%. He may have had a couple of 20 point games against a lot of people but he is definitely out of his mind with these statements lol.
