Even the teams that weren't sub .500 wouldn't even sniff the Western Conference playoffs. It's easy to advance when you're beating up on trash the first 2 rounds every year. Now that LBJ is in the Western conference we see how hard it could have been for him. Those Cavs squads would have been 5-6 seeds every year in the West. Kobe didn't need half of team USA either to cop the next 2 chips. Lebron needed 2 Max players and half of team USA to "feel" like he's ready to compete. It's actually very smart what he did. He had his best interest in mind and he wanted to fulfill his promise to Cleveland. That wasn't going to happen though with the team he had before... they were incredibly underpowered. Maybe a 30 win team at best without him.
