I ripped through The Institute so quickly it startled me. It reminded me that I could still get totally absorbed into great fiction like when I was younger. Also, I'm pretty well-read on the CIA during the 50s (to the 70s) and I loved that he gave it a modern update. Stephen King is still the best and most reliable storyteller working and all of his eloquent and devastating takedowns of the " disgraced, twice-impeached and twice-indicted former guy" are just an added bonus!

It is not just immigrant kids being held at the border. Don't forget the many foster children like I was that was also held against our will in group homes, and residential homes. Which is what the institutions of the 50's became. I was in a place called Kemmerer Village, and we had a similar reward system. Instead of tokens you got some money to get snacks, and clothes at the big house. It was a little complex that was in the middle of the complex were people from outside brought donations. We were on a level system, and if you did not have a level three, and above you could not do anything. If you even said the wrong things or did something they didn't like you had hours added on to the eight hour in the chair timeouts we had were we had to write lines or sentences. We were not allowed to do things other teenagers do like go out or have friends. We were stuck in cottages all day unless it was to go to school or have a dinner at the big house. There was also a horse stable there. We were forced to participate in things we didn't really like. I was on a volleyball team, and they tried to get us to either drop other talent of art or try to get us to use our talents for other things. You can see why Stephen King's book interest me since it was something similar to what I went through even though my parents died. He has written great books in the past so I wanted to see what horror he thought would really happen in an institution or Institute. The sad thing I seen there was a girl who had committed suicide how that happen when there are other girls, and staff there I don't know. Someone had to have known something. I will never forget her. Like King's book the workers were also called staff, and children were called clients no loving human connection. No being cuddly with a boyfriend I had on campus while in school. I eventually went to a local high school briefly before leaving to a group home. I also wanted to mention Kemmerer Village is surrounded by corn fields, and I remember running with other kids to in the corn to get out.

this sort of thing, it really happens. i was one of them. obviously not as insane as the institute, (and where i was, we called it "the unit"). because i am aspergers (asd) , and apparently "gifted" with a super high iq, wow, yet can't do basic maths, and that is the exact type if kid these shrinks like best, so ,ivsaw a shrink from the age of 2/3, and then started to show me zener cards from around 5/6. i could see them clear as i was seeing through them. and if i was very excited or happy , street lghts would flicker, car alarms would go off, stuff like that. imo, we all all have these "gifts" it's often referred to as the sixth sense, because it is a sense, and like any muscle that we don't use, it becomes weakened, it atrophies, that and conditioning all our lives of that's not real, that doesn't exist. "you're insane, if you believe that, you must be mental!" when actually we can all develop it. some, better than otiers, cos like different body shapes, different people will have different results with working out. but in my case , they hypnotised me, from around age 6, , and asked me monthly til i ws 18, to do these tests. some would be the regular cards, some would be other types, lots of patterns, a weird sugarcube test, myself and a few others were given a sugarcube, and made sit in the "chill-out" room where they let us watch films, but not remote viewing, just whatever was out. they'd project it onto the screen. i was very young during some of those tests, so, some of the trippier elements may have been my imagination. they'd ask us to work to put an apple back together, reassemble shapes, multiple choice tests where we had to copy each other but without looking and there were wooden partitions between the desks. i've been trying to get my files since i turned 18 , and neither i, nor any other doctors/shrinks can manage to get them. probably just lazy bureaucracy. probably.

I like these girls so much better when they aren't talking about politics. Reminds me of the days when Whoopie was an actual comedian. Great actress too. I'll give her that. She looked good in this segment as well. Truth is I like everyone better when they aren't talking politics. Politics have become so vitriolic and divisive and the majority of it is perpetuated by the left. Sometimes I wonder if they don't secretly wish it was still the 60's what with their phony, antiquated BS claims. They've done nothing but set the West back 50-60 years. Or they're sure trying too.
