Calla is pronounced like “caya” in the book they say Callahan is pronounced with the l’s making a regular l sound while calla does the opposite
@Th3Downz4 жыл бұрын
Do you have an approximate time frame in which they specify that? I totally missed it. I assumed Callahan comparing his name to Calla Bryn Sturgis cemented the way it was pronounced
@AlrienJ4 жыл бұрын
@@Th3Downz They talk about the pronunciation in chapter 4 - 10, page 117 in my copy. It says "Calla with the tongue up, making a broad-a sound, Callahan with the tongue down, making a much sharper a-sound" though that doesn't make it very clear how the word should be pronounced, not to me anyways. The spanish word calla is already widely pronounced like "ka-luh" in english, and like "kai-yuh" in spanish, so I would just stick with the way it's commonly pronounced in english unless you can decipher the explanation given in the book

It is pronounced Calla, according to the audiobook and the sections where callahan realises how similar it is to his name

I know I'm a year late, but I love your reviews. Everything about the books I can think of is discussed and no stone is left unturned. I feel the same way about Wolves that you do. Two of my reasons for feeling that way coincide with your own. My 5 Reasons why I love it: Sequel to Wizard and Glass, which we waited for longer than any other volume in the series. A Semi-Sequel to 'Salem's Lot The Berni Wrightson artwork The fact that it incorporates The Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven storyline into it The meta stuff at the end with them finding a copy of 'Salem's Lot in the book. (Which I thought was a joke at first, and thought it would be cool if it were true. Then, upon finding out that it was indeed true, it made Wolves an instant favorite. As a matter of fact it is one my top three favorites in the series. I LOVE this book.)

Been watching you DT series and I'm digging it. I don't have the time or memory retention to read these big arching stories. Hell I forget stuff that happens in the GOT TV series. I find DT really interesting and you kind of abbreviating the story gives me more insight of the story. I want to eventually read them once I got enough time, plus I'm a slow reader. Nice work!

nice book in the series... i finished it and it made me go to the sixth right away. in my opinion, it is one of the top three in the series. ( i am finishing the sixth currently)

the title is simple. but the whole book is not. got a few plots in it. father callahan back story was one of it. and then there's jumping from one universe to the next. battle with the wolves only came at the end of the book. we still don't know why the wolves kidnapped those kids and ruined them.

King is a literary genius. I cannot fathom how he makes this stuff up. I read somewhere that he doesn't even think about what he writes, it just comes to him. Not many people have that ability.

I stopped reading the Dark Tower series after, "The Wizard and Glass." I remember "The Wizard in Glass" as a different book. From what I remember, "Wizards in Glass" was the end of the series. I must be hallucinating.

Question..... Why didn’t the families of Calla Bryn Sturgis just leave the area to avoid their children being taken? Why stick around Calla so your kids can get snatched by zombie warriors?
