I noticed by the end that I already read this short story in my mother language when I was a teenager. I remember getting the creeps when he says he finds the word “trunk” ugly. Stephen King is amazing

Strawberry Spring sounds like it should be lovely but this story definitely says that it is not good at all. Great narrator. I had read many Stephen King books but hadn't heard of this short story.
@FloridaMan0561 Жыл бұрын
I’m really glad that I found these stories. Stephen King has been my favorite author ever since I was a kid back in the 80’s. One of the very first books I ever read was King’s “It” and then I saw the movie. I loved to read his books and then get to see them turned into movies. I started to read the “Dark tower” series of books,a process that took years to read. The narrator really does a great job bringing these stories to life and I’m hoping that I can find some narrations of the Dark tower books.

Maybe you should try reading Dean Koontz I've read them All right from his 1st from yrs ago to his recent and for me he is much better than King .. it's just my opinion, I'm not saying King is bad as a few of his movies are my favourites and I have read many of his books too but if you like King you should really like Koontz. Happy New yr!

I started reading Stephen King at the age of 11 years old. Fun fact, I had no idea that it was even him when I fell in love with the book "Roadwork"-Richard Bachman. When I finished that book, I was left with a longing for more. I went to the local library, as we had no internet back then (1990). The librarian informed me that Richard was, in fact, Stephen King, and there were dozens of books available. I started right away with "Four Past Midnight". From that point, I read every single SK book my library had. I attribute my success in school to my interest in reading his works. My absolute favorite has been the Dark Tower series, though. He is truly a magically gifted storyteller. I'm so happy to have found this channel with other fans. 😊

I totally get what you mean! That last line really lingers, doesn’t it? It’s like the perfect punch at the end, leaving you with a sense of unease and uncertainty. It makes you question everything that came before it. Do you think it’s the unexpected twist that makes it so powerful, or is it the eerie buildup throughout the story that sets the stage for that moment?

I was introduced to Mr. King in high school in the early 70"s. Strawberry Spring was a story printed in The Scholastic Reader which was distributed in my public school. Nothing had ever approached this short story within that publication before. I was hooked on this young writer!
@BraveStoriesTGG21 күн бұрын
It’s amazing how certain stories can leave a lasting impact, especially when you first encounter them at a young age. Strawberry Spring really has a way of pulling you in, doesn’t it? It’s fascinating to think about how King’s writing evolved from those early days. Do you think this story is a reflection of the themes he would later explore in his more famous works, like fear and suspense? How do you feel about reading it again now, with the perspective of time?

This comes from back when King really could write and his novels didn’t ramble on… His ability to create atmosphere is reminiscent of Ray Bradbury and this tale is like those in “Dark Carnival”. The pay-off creaks a little but the journey to that “revelation” is worth the ride because of his evocative use of language.
