I have been trying and trying to figure out dual screens, for all the reasons you give. I was hopeful when I found your video. My problem is when I go to 'display' on my (MacBook Air), there is not an option to select 'arrangement', only Display, Color, Night Shift. I'm using two MacBook Airs. It appears I could log in to Zoom from each device, but I would then need to control both separately. That may be the only way to see the student grid, while working from the other one for my presentation/notes, etc. Suggestions? One last thing, is there an easy way to dual with a big-screen TV? I would love to project the student grid up there and see their faces even better. ~Thank you from a new high school teacher doing my best to stay calm as I prep to start distant teaching English from my living room on Monday!

O.k. You're right, with the two computers, you need two separate Zoom accounts and you will need to control both separately. The Systems Preferences in your Mac will only show you the "Arrangement" Option, when it recognizes that you have connected a secondary monitor. Like the Acer here in the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYC3oJ95icpkf9U If you were to connect a monitor to one of those laptops, you would essentially have three screens to play with...😉 = pretty cool.

Thanks for sharing this. Having done my first Zoom class on Friday I needed some tips to make it run smoother and this will help greatly. One question, i was sharing a presentation which had hyper links and when I quicked on the link I could see the webpage but the students could not and i have to unshare and share the web page. With dual monitors is there a way of sharing both screens at the same time, ie the presentation and the webpage. thanks.
@stepintoourclassroom
@stepintoourclassroom 3 жыл бұрын
O.K. I am guessing the hyperlinks opened up a new "window"? It takes some playing with to see which option works best for you when the "Share Screen" option come up. If you pick "desktop", it will show everything... this might not be best if you have your gradebook somewhere, email, etc. If you are on Chrome, you might want to make sure the hyperlinks open in a "new tab", this way, if you to choose one of the windows open, it shows ALL the tabs in that window. Think this will solve your problem. Thanks!

What cable to you use to connect your computer to the tv? I have an iMac and a smart tv, so I’m wondering if a USB to HDMI (both male) would work.
@stepintoourclassroom
@stepintoourclassroom 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Blayne, depending on your iMac, you will need an HDMI to thunderbolt (these look different depending on the age/version of the Mac). If you Google "hdmi to imac adapter" you'll get a ton of options. Look at the back of your iMac and see which one you have. This one is an iMac thunderbolt HDMI - www.google.com/search?q=imac+thunderbolt+port&safe=active&rlz=1C5CHFA_enRO766GR766&sxsrf=ALeKk01fRy8DclFT4UmAtJ8brB8ej_ntLw:1599196467566&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwid7P-K387rAhUO-qQKHWCxDmMQ_AUoAXoECA0QAw&biw=1183&bih=544#imgrc=ZgF4krMAvrsSKM And this one is an older, standard Thunderbolt, www.google.com/search?q=imac+thunderbolt+port&safe=active&rlz=1C5CHFA_enRO766GR766&sxsrf=ALeKk01fRy8DclFT4UmAtJ8brB8ej_ntLw:1599196467566&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwid7P-K387rAhUO-qQKHWCxDmMQ_AUoAXoECA0QAw&biw=1183&bih=544#imgrc=t1WDHotJigw0DM Once you have one of theses - it's automatic. You'll choose "source" on the TV and probably "External" or something comparable.

Hey, thanks for the comment! So what I think you want is to have your Zoom in the secondary monitor to see things enlarged occasionally but to be able to look at your participants in the PC and respond with "eye contact" - O.K. An easy fix is to get rid of "extended desktop" in Windows, which seems to be your current configuration. You want to "duplicate" your display - this way your Zoom (and your desktop) will be on both screens. I do not have access to a PC right now, but I'm pretty sure these steps will do: - Click the Start button and select Control Panel. - Click Appearance and Personalization, then click Display. - Click the Resolution or Adjust Resolution option from the left column. - Expand the drop-down menu next to “Multiple displays” and select Duplicate these Displays. - Click OK to apply the changes and close the window. It should look something like this image here: www.google.com/search?q=windows+10+dual+monitor+duplicate&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwiv1LfJgYrsAhWBr6QKHVRICMQQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=windows+10+dual+monitor+dupl&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQARgAMgQIABAYOgQIIxAnOgIIADoECAAQHjoGCAAQBRAeUP6GAlibkgJgm5kCaABwAHgAgAF3iAGQBJIBAzIuM5gBAKABAaoBC2d3cy13aXotaW1nwAEB&sclient=img&ei=NeBwX-_lNIHfkgXUkKGgDA&bih=630&biw=1238&safe=active#imgrc=tkJvJaoK3J2u8M Hope this works - let me know!

First, Thank you for the video. Dealing with a challenge. - Windows 10. PowerPoint. Zoom. Dual Monitor. Ceiling Projector. Classroom. - Need to be able to have PowerPoint slide presentation up, projected onto the whiteboard, while I walk the classroom and write on the whiteboard, all the while, having a Camera, (which is hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the classroom), sending all of this through Zoom. - Now, here is the challenge: I would like to be able to switch back-and-forth between the Classroom camera view, and at times, for better clarity of the PowerPoint presentation, have the ability to just show the PowerPoint presentation through Zoom while verbally teaching on those individual slides. - What is happening is that I'm being forced to use the same monitor for Zoom capture as the same monitor being pushed to the Projector, and what happens is that the Camera then picks this all up , and because the Camera is capturing the Whiteboard and projected screen, it repeats the view, over-and-over again, until infinity. I'm thinking that if I had a way to duplicate PowerPoint on both monitors, at the same time, maybe that may offer a solution? Not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. - Kevin G.

I think I have you... I run a Mac, and I have done this, but the idea is the same. When you "Share Screen" choose desktop. The idea is whatever is on your screen, will be presented in Zoom, so a powerpoint presentation and an additional camera. So, on my Mac, if I open up quicktime (you would need any simple video recording programme), I can choose the external camera - in your case, the ceiling. This programme is just open, not recording, but the camera is active. Now you just need to play with how to best split your screen, accommodate the ppt and additional camera. You can still toggle between the two by simple going to full screen on both. Zoom will now nothing about the 2nd camera as it has no direct connection with it... just the desktop. Let me know.
@stepintoourclassroom

Also, Kevin, have you tried to click on the "advanced options" upon clicking on the "share screen"? There is the 2ndary camera option there - it might have a different effect.. trial and error.

@@stepintoourclassroom - Thank you for your kind and helpful follow-up. - It seems that Mac and PC's offer different options/features. - I can visually see my window options by using Alt + Tab. I am able to toggle between Screen-1 (Monitor-1) showing a PowerPoint Presenter's Full-Screen mode, and Screen-2 (Monitor-2) showing a full screen of the classroom through the classroom Camera (Reolink RCL-522 security camera), which include's the whiteboard and projected PowerPoint slide, but when I let go on of the Tab Button, nothing happens. If I am in Screen-1 and toggle to Screen-2, the viewer sees a quick flash, but Zoom does not change to the other Screen. It stays on the original Screen. - Interestingly, If I was to use Atl + Tab and manually click on the other Screen, then click on the "Share" button, it will switch to the other screen. - I need to have this as a Hot-Key, which I can program into a remote. - As a side note: Zoom Tech responded to my inquiry and they said for me to use their pre-developed Keyboard Shortcut: Alt+Shift+S Well, that just brought up the pop-up window displaying which Windows / Screens that were open and I couldn't even toggle between them unless I used the mouse. - So, I'm scratching my head... - Thank you again. - Kevin G.

@stepintoourclassroom
@stepintoourclassroom 3 жыл бұрын
Ariane, So the dual screen, or using a secondary monitor might be useful for your host in this situation. If I were the host I would drag my participants in "Gallery View " to the secondary monitor. This would leave the presentation in my computer for presentation mode and advancing slides etc. You might want to consider using a Google Slide Presentation - Your speaker would have access to the presentation this way and he/she could run the presentation as well. You as the host would have to enable share screen for participants. In terms of strategies to best share any presentation in Zoom, I suggest you have a look at: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIuneolmlpmKmas "Zoom Presentation Hack - Full Screen - Easy" Thanks and let me know how it goes.

@stepintoourclassroom
@stepintoourclassroom 3 жыл бұрын
O.K. so there's a bit of debate about this one. Regardless of how you join your meeting/class, you'll need to be present with two devices. According to Zoom, you can be logged in simultaneously with the same account with "... one computer, one tablet, and one phone at a time". Some people are able to be logged in with 2 computers (I cannot). So, if you have any weirdness with being in the same meeting with two devices with the same account, you might need create/use a secondary account. I.e. Ms Euler2. So, with one device, you can share you Google Slide Presentation - Here you can minimize the participants and they will not show - click on the little flat line. The other device, drag the shared presentation as far as you can you can to the left, then click on "Gallery View". This will show all your students on this device and the slides will super tiny... not an issue as this is in the other device. If you use the iPad, you would probably want to use this to display your students. Also, you might want to look at a small hack when presenting Google Slide Presentations with Zoom = kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIuneolmlpmKmas

love this video...question....I am a speech therapist so I will only have 1-3 participants in zoom. I want to be able to look directly at my participants for therapy (2nd monitor) Does that mean that I will need to get a camera for the 2nd monitor? If so, how will that work with zoom since that is running on the laptop, which has a camera? Hope that made sense.
@stepintoourclassroom
@stepintoourclassroom 3 жыл бұрын
No, no 2nd camera needed. If you were to use a second camera, it would only be for your students to see a different angle/shot of you. What you want to do is drag the participants over to the second monitor. You might find this easier and more comfortable by unselecting the "Use dual monitors" function in General Settings (found in the Zoom application/meeting, etc.) So, I would suggest starting a meeting, join with a phone, tablet, etc to other "participants" in the meeting. Then play with moving these over to the second monitor. Go between Speaker and Gallery view and at times both of these might make more sense depending on your activity. ***Also, scroll over one of your "participants" and click on the dots, choose "pin video". This might be useful when you want to have a better look/more motor skill detail at one of your participants. That individual will be the "largest" view you have regardless of wether they are the "loudest" (Speaker View picks up on who is talking at that moment) If you had a choral exercise, then it could get a little weird... jumping back and forth. Hope this helps Leeta! PS - You gave me an idea... You could use a 2nd camera if you needed to zoom in your mouth (articulation therapy maybe?) and you could toggle between camera 1 - wider/normal shot of you and camera 2 - close up, detailed zoom shot.

I would like to know if it’s possible to have the gallery view of all the students on the desktop monitor while I share my screen or a live lesson on my laptop. I would like the desktop to always show the kids, all of them and use the laptop for everything else. This will help me monitor and assess them if we were to do whiteboards or a quick show of thumbs or fingers. Does this make sense? I have a MacBook and an iMac. Is this even possible?

Yes, but from what you're giving me, you will be using two separate computers; desktop and a laptop. If this is the case, you will need to be logged in with two separate accounts; i.e. Ms. Pham and Ms. Pham2. With your desktop (for viewing students in Gallery), make sure you *right click on the down carrot v* to the left of "Participants". Then select ↗︎Popout. Now you can make the gallery as large as you want and then minimize any potential Share Screen from the laptop. You can drag the Share Screen that appears in the Desktop to the left and the window will get really small, thus making your gallery essentially full screen. Hope this helps.

But can I watch gallery view on 2nd monitor and speaker view on main monitor simultaneously ?
@stepintoourclassroom
@stepintoourclassroom 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you'll see at 8:25 - the "main" zoom window, with your control & what would have Gallery view with more people & you'll see what is essentially speaker view on my secondary monitor. I could switch these. Make sure in your Zoom settings (General - above Video, Audio, Share Screen, etc) you have clicked on "Use dual monitors". From here if you can scroll over the ? and see it reads, "Show participants video and screen shared content on separate screens". Hope this helps.

Can I drag my participants pictures over to another monitor while I share my screen? So I can see my class at all times?
@stepintoourclassroom
@stepintoourclassroom 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly! This is my favourite feature with this. Depending on your monitor, you can probably get around 28+ participants in the monitor and then keep your shared screen on your computer. Equally, you might want to connect a webcam and place this on the monitor. Good luck Zooming Bethany!

@@robertoperez9749 Oooh, sorry Roberto, just seeing this. I don't have access to a Chromebook during quarantine. BUT, I think I figured it out. It might not be your device, but settings. Click on the cog to get to settings in the Zoom application 2) Click on “Share Screen” 3) Make sure this is NOT ticked: “Enter full screen when a participant share screen”. I've created a tutorial for you here if you need it- Cheers! How did you get the Zoom home screen in dark mode?
@troywhite430
@troywhite430 4 жыл бұрын
Ah... that's easy - when the Zoom application opens, and you see the date etc. on the right and the 4 icons on the left (New meeting, Join, Schedule, etc). 1️⃣Click on the cog in the upper right (just below your profile avatar). 2️⃣Click on General 3️⃣choose between "light", "dark", "system settings" (PS, I'm on a Mac, not sure if that affects these options).

Hey Sonia, Obrigado!!! Faz mutio tempo que falo o portugues. I'm not %100 about the which window, but I tell my teachers to grab and drag ALL windows in Zoom. They will move a lot and you can discover how some options are more comfortable for you. When in "Share Screen" I like to click on "Gallery View" and drag this farther to the left so I can see more students at a time. I know the content I'm sharing, so this can be as small as I make it.

How are you maneuvering the windows on your second monitor? It looks like your using some keys on your MacBook.

@@troywhite430 Hi Troy--I use a MacBook Pro as my main computer and an iPad for my secondary screen. This 2ndy screen (using Sidecar) I share in Zoom for teaching and can annotate PowerPoints etc with an Apple pencil. This is a pretty good solution but the icing on the cake would be to have my face in PIP at the same time as sharing the iPad. Not a biggy, but just wondering if that's possible without using some kind of external HDMI streaming switcher. Thanks.

Apparently so Carlos, this is from the official Zoom support site: "Sharing screens at the same time Any participants (including the host) using the Zoom desktop client can click Share Screen to begin sharing. Even if a someone is already sharing a screen, another participant can begin sharing. Learn more about sharing your screen. Depending on their setup, participants will see the following: Participants using dual monitors can see the two most recently shared screens on each monitor" support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115000424286-Sharing-multiple-screens-simultaneously#h_1e19422b-ff4c-4283-9e97-d51a90b823f0

Hi! I want to do two monitors with my first graders. They won't be using chats, I just want to see their faces and responses to what I'm showing them (on a large desktop) and use my MacBook for screensharing and my document camera. For example, I'll show them with my document camera how to make an "A" correctly. I want them to copy it on their white boards and hold them up to their chromebook cameras so I can see how they are doing in real time. Your explanation seems like it's what I want to do, but I need simpler directions or steps written out. I'm not an expert in zoom, but we have to use it to start school. Thanks so much.

O.K. I'm not sure by Desktop, do you mean a secondary computer? If this is the case, you would need two Zoom accounts. This way, you run the class on your Mac, but you can comfortably see them on the secondary computer. You can be logged into meetings at the same time with a single account, but only one can be a computer, the other can be a phone or tablet. Let me know.

Too fast! I'm not a regular user, so this went too fast for me. I also didn't know how to get this view where all of the elements are without having a meeting in play, so would be helpful to give that step too.
