I really appreciate Adam's openness and willingness to discuss his assault and the process it takes to just live with it and surrender the power it has over your present life. I was assaulted as a child and teen & its been an ongoing process in therapy to unpack the feelings of self-blame and shame I felt. It takes a lot of work to come to a place where past trauma can inform your life but not impact it.

My partner and I have been together for 35 years. We have fought and loved and left and returned, but we both were committed to staying together for better or worse. Sometimes the worse was really bad. You cannot be madly in love every day of every year, relationships ebb and flow, but we never considered not being together, no matter what. It is too easy to give up, lose that thought permanently and never consider it, live and make memories and know they will be good and bad. But, it would be no different with anyone else.

Not getting too close to the edge of Crater Lake Oregon is great advice. I was there in December once. The rangers were not busy that time of the year. They told us of all the deaths that have happened over the years with folks getting too close seeking the perfect picture.😢

2023 was the most challenging for my sisters and me. We lost ten family members. Three of them were my late mothers siblings. They all passed within five months of each other. We went ftom the Caribbean to the West Coast to the blizzards of the North/East Coast in one year. Planning and financing three funerals with three vastly different health law requirements was mind-blowing. Not to mention mentally, financially and physically exhausting. And then there were the family members!!! 😳 To say that I know exactly what you went through will be insulting. But I empathize and sympathize with you. As Bernardo said, we have to take the time to go through the grieving process in order to heal. And it does take time. Just remember, never bottle up the pain, the anger, the hopeless feelings. Jasper finding a better daddy.. Funny how dogs can read body signs and needs as well as chemicals we produce... knowing when someone has a medical issue. Jasper can read who needs love the most. B, we lost the baby of our family, my sister, in '95. She was 26. I still miss her...every day. We'll never not miss our sisters, but with time the hurt isn't as sharp. A, I've learned how difficult it is to maintain a relationship with one who was sexually abused. You're right, thank G for therapy--you're smart (and brave) to go through that. I can relate to both the weather (I lived in the Pacific Northwest on the coast) and the small town. You both will find that magic place to live...together...and with a dog and cat! 😊 I love how you both love one another. Love.

What a great enlightening video. Funny how when you speak about the good times, the Friday Pizza Nights etc. and how much you enjoyed them, yet, why not just recreate and do those things again. I think getting 2 pizzas, sitting down and watching the movie and doing what you did sounds like such relaxing fun. I think of this because I think of myself having this same conversation with a co-worker. Why is it, we love something so much, yet, just let it go by so easily.
