Hello. I’m not quite sure how to respond to this topic, but I can agree with you that such effects occur with phase shifts. In an ideal music room (which one cannot have), many tones would cancel each other out. However, in normal listening rooms, the different frequencies arrive at our ears with different phase shifts, resulting in such effects. You are right. 😉👍 Even in the recording studio, we sometimes intentionally use phase shifts in musical content to achieve certain spatial effects.

I wired two speakers in series and I'm 99% sure I did it correctly (checked multiple times). But: 1. it didnt sound wrong while out of phase. 2. I don't get sound from right channel signal and left channel signal is coming from both speakers...
@AudioSignalSuite2 ай бұрын
Hello. 🙂 1. The polarity test can only work if you use both channels (left and right). 2. So, as you describe it, you have connected two speakers only to the left channel of the amplifier. Is there a specific reason for that? And when you connect the speakers in series, the ohm value doubles, and everything just gets quieter. Why don't you connect one speaker to the right channel and the other to the left channel of the amplifier?
@fargoththemoonsugarmaniac2 ай бұрын
@AudioSignalSuite hey thanks for the answer! My speakers are 4 Ohm each and for the Onkyo A9010 it says "Speaker Load Impedance 4-16 Ohm" but in the manual it says "Connect speakers with 4-16 Ohm". Idk if the values refer to the total resistance or for one speaker. So I went the safe route and went series, bc parallel would be total resistance of 2 Ohm which is too little. I connected the amp Left positive to Left Speaker positive and Amp Right negative to right speaker negative. I guess I can't have stereo with series wiring but I don't understand why one channel isn't working at all.
@AudioSignalSuite2 ай бұрын
Hello. Please connect each speaker to only one channel (!) of the amplifier. Connect the left speaker + / - to + / - of the left channel of the amplifier and the right speaker + / - to + / - of the right channel of the amplifier. Also, do not connect them in series, that is incorrect. For your information, the right channel should not have any cable connection with the left channel.
@fargoththemoonsugarmaniac2 ай бұрын
@AudioSignalSuite but if my amp can only handle 4 Ohm total resistance and I connect two 4 Ohm speakers in parallel, the total resistance would drop to 2 Ohm which is too low for the amp, potentially destroying it. I'd happily connect them in parallel but I don't know if the ohm specification is for total resistance or speaker resistance :/
@AudioSignalSuite2 ай бұрын
I looked up your amplifier on Google. The 4-16 Ohm rating applies to each individual channel. Each channel has its own amplification unit, which are internally separated. So you can connect a 4-Ohm speaker to the left channel and another to the right channel without any issues. Just make sure not to connect the speakers in parallel or bridged mode. A tip: Think of your amplifier as if it has two separate amplifiers inside, one for the left and one for the right channel.

When polarity testing, when it says should sound wrong, does that mean it sounds louder but bass is distorted?
@AudioSignalSuite5 ай бұрын
Yes, the bass should ideally cancel out, meaning it will become quieter. (The right sound wave ideally cancels out the left one, 180 degree phase shift) So if the bass sounds quieter in the video at the moment “Now it must sound wrong,” then the speakers are correctly connected. For your information, if you place the speakers opposite each other with incorrect polarity, everything will cancel out. (Ideally only, as this doesn’t fully happen in reality)
@AudioSignalSuite5 ай бұрын
"does that mean it sounds louder...": No, ideally that shouldn’t happen. If it sounds louder during the video moment ‘Now it must sound wrong,’ then unfortunately you have very unfavorable room reflections.

When it says “now it must sound wrong” my speakers get louder, what does this mean?
@AudioSignalSuite14 күн бұрын
So if you’ve set up your speakers correctly in the room and you’re doing this test while sitting in the stereo triangle, then your speakers are definitely wired incorrectly (out of phase)! If everything is connected properly, frequencies (when the text turns orange!) should normally cancel each other out and not add up (it shouldn’t get louder). Maybe you could try swapping the plus and minus on one speaker and then report back. Thanks!
@nalley681514 күн бұрын

@AudioSignalSuite13 күн бұрын
Ahhhh, you tested this in the truck. 😀 Sorry, but for the test, you would need to position yourself in the middle of the car with your head there and test the front and rear separately. Many modern vehicles also have a time-delay correction that can be adjusted to improve the sound for the driver’s seat. I’d say the video is unfortunately not suitable for such a test. Sorry about that. ☹️ But I really appreciate your response because these are situations I never would have expected! 👍

@@tycoonsandsimulators904 When it comes to headphones, I wouldn’t worry about them being wired with reversed polarity. The polarity test unfortunately works only with speakers and not as well with headphones, because your ears hear only one channel simultaneously. With speakers, certain frequencies would cancel out during the test, and you’d notice the issue immediately. If you’re using speakers for this test and you’re sitting in the stereo triangle, you’ll be able to immediately notice the polarity test if your speakers are connected incorrectly. You’ll easily be able to hear it.

I still have the Gen.1 Pro's and they are really very good when it comes to deep bass. 👍

Hi, I checked out your headphones on the Fantech website and read a lot of reviews about them. But what do you mean by saying that everything was “super cool” at first and now suddenly isn’t, or that they now play all sounds the same? Normally, the audio quality doesn’t change.
