Smith and Williams did a somewhat similar study. They had 1024 white students watch a video which chastised white people for being racist. They then gave them both an SAT test and several IQ tests. The following week they showed the same students a video that strongly refuted the previous video, offering concrete evidence that whites were not racist and pointed out the contributions to civilization that white people had made in all fields. They again gave the students an SAT test and several IQ tests. In every case the white students scores on the SAT and the IQ tests improved from 5.7% - 15.3%. Note that the previous IQ test average was 103.5, and after watching the 2nd video their Average IQ rose to 112.9. Of note is the fact that 389 of the students were disadvantaged [poor] , 39% from broken homes, and attended poorly funded public schools, yet their average scores were only 2.7% less than the more privileged students. Also note than in the following two years the exact same protocol was applied to two different large groups of white students, over 3000 in total and randomly selected, with almost the exact same results. This effect has since been repeated by other with similar results. Prior to this the advantage that whites had in test scores was attributed 80% to genetics, but analysis of these and other results show it is only 70% genetic, the other 30% being environmental and psychological. Smith expressed the effect in layman's terms as "the cream will rise to the top". Research and testing is now being performed to further quantify the proven effect of both self pride and group pride in things such as respect for society and the law, parenting, work ethic, self reliance, and general behavior, among other areas. This research is longitudinal in order to assess the long-term effect of reinforcing a positive image among the white population in general. So far the result has been an ever increasing positive impact.
