Year late but my friend was the primary graphic designer behind BRYTE, also did a lot of random stuff for Berra's social media. Steve was a fucking nightmare to him, tried to pay him with boards, would call him in the middle of the night with shit, constantly angry, etc. My friend wanted to hold on to that chance to get into the skate industry doing graphics and stuff, so he just dealt with Steve's bullshit constantly, was sad to watch. He now has a much better job elsewhere tho!

To be honest I think the Hyphenate wasn't so much like a puppy following Steve's demands for nothing, even though he spent his own money to get things running and that is questionable seeing that many red flags had already appeared he was still making connections and getting in touch with people from all over the skateboarding industry and also brands would give more attention to him by having The Berrics name with him. It's the "exposure" he said he would like but in a different way and that was good for him. Anyways what happened was f*cked up and Berra seems like a shitty boss

Regarding the tech algorithm, you can actually research what each platform likes. And they like consistency- specifically in terms of content. Tiktok for instance determines from your first 5 posts what type of content you plan on putting out, and will only push out videos you make in that field. I would assume KZbin is similar, and even if not you are less likely to get an organic niche of subscribers that way. I myself am interested in multiple niches (I’m a tiktok creator with a decent following) including powerlifting, skateboarding, beyblade, music/metal, and was in the army so I like to talk about that sometimes as well- but my first 5 posts were powerlifting related. My non powerlifting posts average 90% less views than my powerlifting ones. Partially for algorithm reasons, but also because my followers are there for powerlifting content. The hyphenate has some good content, it’s good quality, but the execution in terms of finding a niche and organic following is what’s holding him back as a creator. And the organic following is important- even if he did get exposure from the berrics his subscribers might spike but there is a good chance his views wouldn’t increase much. Just some food for thought for anyone trying to come up in the social media space
