Steve's a wonderful story teller. I always enjoy hearing him talk about that magical time at Stax, and this time he reveals at least one reason it ended. Pity that the music next door nearly drowns out his voice.

WoW. Steve exercised an enormous amount of control considering the racket next door. Angel would have marched in and postponed the session or the interview or both...best guess that is... having played golf with them both!!! Good people they are. Ben from cypress v g c.

Great interview, as always! Cropper sure knows how to tell a good story. Then again, he's had quite the life! As for the music in the background, I'm honestly more bothered by the pauses to put in the title cards. If we heard the question, we'll know what section we're in.

My brother and I went to “Elizabeth Messick County school” where Steve is speaking of also , when Jimmy Jamison and a couple of others who made it in music also attended high school there , 1970-73, yes everyone in the school band also was allowed to play there own instruments in school ,( not normally allowed in the 50’s -60’s) , we heard live music around 130-200 during class everyday almost everyday .( iethe music in the background) And on another note , what ruined stax ( my opinion) ( and steve is so graceful about), we know how to get along around here , always have and always will , when outside sources innervene is where the problems come from , when your allowed to hire hit men for security , they may just decide to gut you in return for your protection then burn you down for the insurance money .

Me too. Just too much. Steve Cropper is too important to have a rehearsal goin on in the background. If Clapton Page etc, they listened to him, so man, why o why my o my? dude man damn. What a drag. My noise gates are blowin up. My compressors are pressin. My eq's are q-in. What a drag. Well, good try anyway. You meant well.

The interview was done in a recording studio. That's where they CHOSE to do it. When someone pays for studio time .. you can't very well tell them to "keep it down" .. or .. "knock it off" !! lol
