Mahoney was my first movie star crush…I was 9 lol! My friends and I were DEFINITELY not supposed to be watching it but i think my friends Dad either wasn’t paying attention or wanted to see it himself so we rented it on vhs for our sleepover. I instantly fell in love with Police Academy! And i completely agree about Citizens on Patrol, that one is my favorite!

Diner, Police Academy, Short Circuit, Cocoon, Three Men and a Baby, High Spirits. All Gems. Steve Guttenburg's films were part of the Zeitgeist.

For me, Diner is his best movie. That one is just perfect. Mickey Rourke, Kevin Bacon, Daniel Stern and Paul Reiser. Such a great cast.

Guttenberg was my first man crush when I saw him in police academy i guess 1981. not gay, just thought he was the coolest dude ever.

He went to my high school and even though I was a lot younger than him I was supposed to go out on a date with him and I turn it down. It’s crazy because he was good friends with the guy that owns Pappalardo‘s pizza in Massapequa, Long Island, Joe Pappalardo that’s his boy. I should’ve gone out with him when I had the opportunity just to hear stories about his career but I wasn’t attracted to him lol.

Steve Guttenberg was in an ABC movie special called The Day After, which gave me nightmares throughout my childhood. The movie was about a Midwest town during the 1980s during the Cold War and what it would be like if we went to nuclear war with the USSR. I know it's cheese for the 80s but this is the scene that I was telling you about: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioCzkpR-iM-Amdksi=qBUnIf1L-cH5jkmr&t=3501

"King of the 80s?" Who are you kidding. Nobody ever watched a movie because Guttenberg was in it. He was cast in high concept movies that would have been hits regardless of the actor in them. Police Academy was an ensemble movie, Short Circuit was about the Robot, Cocoon starred 3 more prominant stars, as did High Spirits. When he tried to carry a movie himself it bombed.

You should do a video on another legendary Steve: Winwood. 😄 He kinda even looked, and sounded, a bit like him back then. 😀 It's probably for the best he turned down the role of sarcastic Venkmann, in favor of Bill Murray. 🫣 Shame he was replaced in the last PA. 😒
