Steve Jansen is one of the UK's most under-appreciated drummers, that's for sure. His work with Japan and with his brother, David, is absolutely superb, still sounding vital and fresh these many decades later.

Only one member of YMO is left. They're influence is immense. Steve Jansen remains one of my heartthrobs from my teens.

[Verse 1: Yukihiro Takehashi] Something tells me I've made my choice And nothing lies between [Steve Jansen] This one desire Just out of reach Is the closest I've never been [Pre-Chorus 1: Both] The sky sleeps And the silence speaks So clear no words could say Like a wild beast Looking straight at me It takes my breath away [Chorus: Both] So don't leave me Nobody else is here Stay close And we'll dance in the fire [Verse 2: Yukihiro Takehashi] Every moment (every moment) My bravest thoughts Were running wild inside (running wild)

Thanks CT! Fabulous isn't it? I'm not surprised that these dapper chaps can act, I'm only surprised that they are not hugely, wildly famous outside the realms of the privileged converted. Maybe now is time for a new album from Yukihiro and Steve?

@dumdumfriend Steve Jansen was from the band Japan, and Yukihiro Takahashi was (and still is) in the band Yellow Magic Orchestra. The two bands collaborated all the time in one way or another, and every song was pure gold.

yeah it's amazing and a bit strange how close jansen & sylvian's vocal styles are.. maybe it's a pity that all japan members eventually ended up in the shade of david sylvian's persona and much acclaimed solo career.. i say maybe because it's difficult to judge as sylvian's solo works after japan are very very good, which i can't say about the sum of other members' works - for example this here piece is exactly like the later Japan.. or Sylvian's pieces like "pulling punches".. anyway..
