He is unsurpassed on guitar! It's that simple. No one can play, or ever has played better than Steve Lukather! He is a true, very humble genius!

Don't know why Lukather never got the credit he well deserved. This cat has been playing music publicly since the 70s and yet to be recognized for his amazing musical talent. Instead, people like John Mayer and Gary Clark get the spot light and recognition and both don't have half the musical talent and guitar skills as Steve Lukather. I guess people really don't really hear with their ears anymore but rather with their eyes. This is why the Millennial generation sucks. They are the lost generation, and empty void of a generation that has nothing to offer compared to the previous generations. All they have to offer are the likes of Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Taylor Swift and other garbage. This is the same generation that consider DJs musicians and consider a turn table a musical instrument and they are socially challenged without their social media and electronic devices and the generation that feel entitled instead of working and earning for it. They they are quick to take hand outs and still live with Mommy and Daddy over the age of 25+.... Yes a generation we can all be proud of indeed.

Gary Clark is a very average blues guitarist (in the grand scheme) but Mayer actually has a lot of talent. Go watch some of his improvisational things he does on hendrix tunes and with the grateful dead guys and get back. I'm older too..not just a millennial fanboy. the guy can play. Not comparing him to Lukather though. Steve is the man.

Don’t worry Luke is respected by everyone in the know. I just finished his autobiography. The mistake Toto made is they released too many soft rock ballads back in the 80s. The soft rock music overshadowed the rest of their legacy. But having played with Michael Jackson and all the Beatles and Bob Dylan he is without a doubt the greatest session guitarist of his era. By the way if you haven’t read the book everyone read it! It’s really great.

Steve L is one my fav g-mans ever, but sorry, speed does not always win. For me, steve lost the soul , Jimi put into it. I,v played both generations jimi and steve . Sorry , Steve 's rendition is all show and no soul. I love them both . But jimi wins on the count of , 1 of a kind.
