This wasn't even going to be a video. Until we experienced it for ourselves. And now we share with you this exceptional other-worldly landscape. Who would have believed Tenerife would be like this?! Come with us and see it for yourself. Enjoy the video...

I don’t pretend to be a travel expert, but I love what I do and would be honoured if you came along with me. My channel focusses on the wide-eyed wonder and excitement of finding somewhere new, and my genuine reaction to it. You may not get a history lesson in my videos, but who knows, you might pick up some useful travel tips along the way, add a few destinations to your bucket list and hopefully be entertained by what you see. Thanks for watching, it means a lot to me :)

FAQs:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up (in which case, likely to be Tuesday at 5pm)
WHY IS THERE A DELAY BETWEEN TRIP AND VIDEO APPEARING?
This is the reality of a weekly upload schedule, coupled with doing everything myself and sticking to a budget. Often I need to film 3-4 videos in one trip to make it cost-effective and that means a queue for the Saturday morning slot. This is just part of KZbin life I’m afraid, but I will only upload something if it still has value for you as a viewer. Please also remember I’m a regular guy with all the responsibilities of life and this can sometimes mean I need to keep emergency videos for times when that life gets in the way!
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc. I also have a DJI Pocket 3 (bigger sensor) for nighttime, although I’m still getting to grips with it.
WHY DON'T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I'm afraid - time and money! Hotel prices especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman. Also my weekly upload schedule means I need to keep on the move.
WHERE'S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature whenever possible, but she has her own life and a 9-5 job so it can take a while for our schedules to match up. Trust me though, I prefer it when She is there too!
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I've only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
WHY THE ADS?
It's my income, I can't do this for free. Notice I don’t have mid-roll ads though!
CAN I CONTACT YOU?
I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you'd like to support further, I'll pop links in here for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
I don't like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don't even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I'm open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don't want to get into talking about products, it's something I don't like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for KZbin Premium). So it's probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

I am beginning to think that all of these "not planned" videos are just a cut above the rest. Perhaps it's the level of spontaneous and relaxed that they have. Another terrific Tenerife video, the terain was extroordinary. Compliments to Alicja whose hat and sunglasses are perfect for island vacation and look very chic.

@LynnB_Ky Thank you so much for your kind words!❤️ Unfortunately, I'm ill for quite some time now, and my health is deteriorating fast. My body is giving up at the age of 51, but my mind wants to live many years more. Steve's videos are a great way for me to travel from the comfort of my bed. And gives me the ability to see parts of the world I would otherwise never see. And I'm so grateful that he is giving me (and many others) that opportunity. ❤️

Hi Steve and Alicja. I believe Planet of the Apes wad also filmed there. In 1977 I went to the top of Teide, the cable car stopped a couple of hundred ft short of the top, if you got out of breath, where you were , those last few hundred ft were hard, and took ages, fighting for breath and the sulphur fumes. But it was worth it . I have a little bit of sulphur from the top (12,195ft, 3,717m). Fantastic video, brought back great memories.

Great video! You two are amazing togerher! I stayed at Los Gigantes where my parents had a timesharte and my wife and I went to Mount Teide where parking was easy and the cable car was empty...but that was 40 years ago! Many, many films made there, too many to list. We went to the very top, and on the rocks, some were warm to touch and others had ice on the other side. Great memories for me when as an aspiring photographer I took slides...and I still have them today, so will look them out to relive the memories! I fell over at the top of Teide...the terrain was very steep and I was mesmerised by the clouds passing over and as I followed one I leant back too far...crash! Vertiginous, trust me! Thanks for this amazing video!

I went to Tenerife in 1981, on honeymoon. Los Christianos was a two street fishing village, and there was talk of a resort called Playa de las Americas being planned. We drove up Teide in a very dodgy VW Beetle, on roads that were less than hospitable. But I've never forgotten the scenery, the sense of being above the world, almost like being on the moon! Of course, Tenerife was much quieter then and we were pretty much the only people up on the mountain. Despite the development and relatively crowded areas, it's good to see the magic hasn't been destroyed. Lovely video, thank you. My husband died last year, this brought back memories of good times. X

Many thanks to you two for getting up with the chickens to show us your adventure. This is the kind of stuff we love from travel vlogs from you and others. I do like the option of a public bus to the park, especially with how limited the parking is.

yes yes yes. The Mount Teide. we visited there about 25 years ago. the cable car was not running because of high winds. and all around there it like being on the moon or another planet. just amazing. we was with an American guy. he just said, "i have seen, black rocks, blue rocks, green rocks and red rocks, I have seen every colour of rock you can think of. Boy what a day!" he was bored out of his mind. he was so funny. Iv have always wanted to go there again and go up the cable car. one day I will return. Thank you Steve & Alicja for this Tuesday video. Another treat. 😃👍

Thank you for these videos of the Canaries, particularly Tenerife. Our son and his wife are currently living there, and these vids help to keep them a little closer to us in Australia. Mount Teide terrain is quite spectacular, isn't it? We have a lovely photo of our two sitting atop Mt Teide and the view is really amazing. But climbing up there is not for the faint hearted. Keep up the good work. We are enjoying it. But one small slap on the wrist... those big green things getting you around are guaguas (waa waas), not buses! Do take yourselves north, if only for a few nights, away from the Costa Adeje. For our last visit we stayed in a lovely old hotel, quite authentic, in La Oratava. The scenery can be quite stunning. And the people are lovely. (Maybe you've been there in a previous vid. Apologies for mentioning if you have.) The Canary Islands are special and have been very important to explorers for centuries. 😃 🇦🇺

Steve - I'm about your age - and I was lucky enough to go to Tenerife back when I was 10 years old, which was many decades ago. I have vivid memories of my father driving up the hill (we stayed in Puerto de la Cruz) in a hired Renault 4, rowing the gears as it was woefully underpowered. The shift knob hilariously came out of the dashboard somewhere. I also remember the FOG that enveloped part of the island. Thickest fog I've ever seen, worse than any in the UK or North America that I've ever encountered. Of course, fog has not been kind to aviation in Tenerife, something I was blissfully unaware of at that age. I haven't been back to Tenerife since that trip and would LOVE TO with my wife and kids. Well, definitely my wife, my kids are old enough to do their own thing these days. Thank you so much for showing this amazing island in a style that you do best. Always feel like we are coming along for the ride with you and Alicja, and as pointed out, what an amazingly varied landscape. The cable car to the top of Teide is a must-do though, unless the fear of heights prevents that. Worth it, imo. I still remember the sights, sounds and smells from the top of the Teide caldera all of these years later.

From one of the documentaries I‘ve learned, the temperature goes down by 1 degree celsius each 100 meters ascending, so no wonder you were freezing 🥶😘! As usual a cracking video Steve and Alicja. People who just visit the resorts and go home don`t realise what they have missed. Maybe your video will encourage more people to go and explore the island. I first visited in the mid 70`s and you could get out of the cable car and walk up to the summit but it was a real effort due to the lack of oxygen. You can see all the other canary islands on a clear day. Mus be nearly 20yrs since i was up there and i had to get a permit from a government office in Santa Cruz to walk up from the cable car as only so many people are allowed at any one time due to erosion. Enjoy the rest of your time in Tenerife with Alicja. Many happy memories for me. Look forward to the next one.

I thought it was funny when you said it looked like Utah! Born and raised in Utah and having spent a lot of time with my grandparents in Southern Utah, I kept thinking just how much it looks like Snow Canyon just outside of St. George! Both Snow Canyon and this beautiful Mount Teide really are breathtaking, I could feel the peace awe from my bedroom as you walked around and saw the beautiful rocks. It really felt like home.

WOW!! Yes it reminds of Utah AND the Big Island of Hawaii over the saddle - and it snows there too! I got caught in a blizzard on Mauna Kea! But Tenerife is unique and spectacular with its own personality. Thank you for this "extra" video -- I agree that it is the best of Tenerife so far :).

Great video ! I went to Tenerife in my late teens with my girlfriends. Safe to say we spent our nights partying and our days recovering laying out by the pool. You have made me want to go back and see all those sights for sure, thank you 😊
